Chapter 12: It's my Fault

Xavier was still in sorrow for what had happened to Haze. He couldn't sleep well; he couldn't do school well; and he didn't talk to his friends in a while. Xavier's mom Jean was thinking of a way to cheer up Xavier.

"I know," thought Jean. She called Zona's mom Margaret and Milze's mom Michele.

"So how are your daughters doing?" asked Jean.

"Not good," replied Michele.

"Mine too," said Margaret.

"It's already been two weeks since the incident happened, so what do you want to do?" said Jean.

"There is a carnival going on at the food store parking lot, so maybe we can take them there?" said Michele.

"That sounds great," said Margaret.

"Who's going to take them?" asked Michele.

"I know. Xavier's sister Rosalind can take them. She has a driver's license," said Jean.

"Sounds good to me," said Margaret.

"Me too," said Michele.

"Great.Rosalind will be there at 7 PM. Okay bye," said Jean.

Jean went to Xavier's room. Xavier was sitting on his bed playing with his laptop.

"Hey Xavier, you're going to a carnival tonight."

"I'm not going to that," said Xavier.

"Oh come on. Zona and Milze are going to be there too."

"Noway!"

"Okay Xavier, you have to go. I'm tired of seeing you like this, so can you please go tonight?"

"Fine."

"Thank you."

It was 6:30pm.

"Okay guys, have fun," said Rosalind.

"Um,it's 6:30. It opens at 7pm, so it's not open yet," said Xavier.

"I told my boyfriend Mike that I would meet him here at 6:30, so you guys can catch up."

A green Jeep pulled up in the parking lot. "There he is now. Bye guys. We'll be walking around the carnival if you need us."

"I hate it when she does that," murmured Xavier. Xavier turned around and saw Zona and Milze standing there uncomfortably. "Okay guys,we're in a carnival and there is no one else here, what should we do?"

"I don't know," said Zona.

"I know it's weird that Haze is..."

"Is what?" said Zona. "Yeah, Xavier, it is weird that Haze is dead."

"Xavier,why did he have to die? He was just trying to do the right thing. He didn't deserve to die," said Milze.

"I know, guys. Every time I think about it, I think it was my fault. If I never told him about the Crystals, he wouldn't be dead right now.That's why I think I shouldn't be friends with you guys anymore. I don't want to see anyone else get hurt."

"What are you saying? Haze said get all the Crystals. He wouldn't want us to stop being friends," said Zona.

"But I don't want you guys to get hurt," said Xavier.

"I don't care if I get hurt. I just want to get all the Crystals,"said Zona.

"Me too," said Milze.

"Wow,thanks guys." All three of them went in for a group hug.

"Wow,isn't that cute," said a voice. They looked up to see a cloaked girl on top of the carousel. She was from June's gang.

"Who are you?" asked Xavier.

"I guess it doesn't matter if I tell you who I am because I'm just going to kill you anyway. My name is Jill." Jill had long black hair with brown eyes, and her weapon was a spear. Jill jumped off the carousel."Now it's time to DIE." Jill came charging at them with her spear.

The three of them ran as fast as they could. "I didn't even think of bringing a weapon," exclaimed Xavier.

"Me too," said Milze.

"I did, I never leave the house without it," said Zona.

"Great,now do something," said Xavier.

"Give me a minute. Wait, where is Jill?" asked Zona.

"What do you mean? She's chasing us."

They stopped running and turned around. The whole carnival was empty.There was no site of Jill.

"Where did she go?" asked Milze.

"Peekaboo."She was behind Milze. She used her spear as a bat to hit Milze in the back. Milze went flying in the air and landed in a stuffed animals tent. "I'm okay!" shouted Milze.

Zona pulled her mace out of her bag and hit Jill in her chest. Jill was thrown in the air and smacked into a roller coaster. "Come on guys,time to go," said Zona.

They ran to find Rosalind. They spotted Rosalind's dark brown hair in the distance. They finally caught up to her. "Rose, time to go," said Xavier.

"It's not even seven yet."

"Don't care. Time to go now."

"Sorry Mike, I have to go. Bye."

"Okay,see you later."

Jill went back to her gang's hideout. It was in a rundown town. There was busted out windows in the buildings and poor people roaming the streets for money and food. They were wearing ragged clothing and their hair was greasy and tangled but Jill went around them. Their hangout was an old shutdown factory. A cover of dust and grime was on all of the old machines and rats roamed around on the floor.

"Where is everyone?" said Jill.

"They are taking care of business," said a large cloaked man in the shadows.

"Boss,sorry, I didn't see you there."

"Did you go and attack Xavier's gang without my permission?" asked the Boss.

"Yes,but I wanted to get revenge for Ethan."

"Now you're going to join him in Hell." The Boss tugged and pulled her weapon, but Jill was no match for the giant, burly man; she lost her grip on her spear. "You have guts, kid, but you can't stop what's going to happen next."

"No wait, please don't." Screams of agony came out of the factory.

June got back from her mission. She went into the old factory. Then she saw Jill's speared body on the ground. "Oh my gosh!" June ran over to Jill's body. "Who did this?" asked June.

"Xavier and his friends killed Jill. I was wandering around on my mission and I came across her," said the Boss. June started to walk away from Jill's body. "I will kill all of them."
