Nothing had changed in their daily routine except now, every morning Mabel woke up she attempted to set something on fire.
With her mind.
It never worked.
This morning wasn't any different, at least a week later, she stared intently at a magazine hanging on the wall.
Dipper gave a sigh, giving up on watching her and uncovering himself.
"Mabel, you know you can't figure out how to do it by yourself."
"I can try!"
She finally let out a gasp, slumping over as she panted softly as he raised an eyebrow.
"I don't think I've ever seen Bill hold his breath when using his powers either."
Mabel hmphed, crossing her arms and looking to her.
"As far as we know he could be, we're just too busy trying not to die to notice."
Dipper shrugged, standing to his feet and heading towards the bathroom.
"Touché."
Mabel went back to her staring, it usually lasted an hour before she gave up for a few hours or the day. It'd only been ten minutes since she'd started.
Seeing as she now gets up an hour earlier to do this, she already went through her morning routine, now it was his turn.
He brushed his teeth thoroughly, combed out his hair, washed his face, changed his clothes and put on his hat.
Took all of twenty minutes before he heard his sister groaning.
"You okay Mabes?"
"Yeah, just have a headache from intense concentration. I think I'll stop early for today."
"Hey sis, we'll get it sometime. Just takes patience."
As much as he didn't want her to, he knew how happy that'd make her.
He held up his fist, offering a smile as she returned and bumped it with her own fist.
"Yeah! I'm all about patience!"
No you're not.
He laughed, heading downstairs where Stan and Ford already were.
"Mabel, Dipper."
Ford's standard greeting.
"Morning, kids."
Stan's standard greeting.
"Morning Grunkle Stan and Ford!"
Mabel as she immediately dashed for the cupboard, taking down the box of cereal and a bowl. She was extra hungry from all her power concentration this morning.
"What are we planning today?"
"I'm planning conning more people. Ford said something about bill proofing the house earlier."
At the mention of his name Ford sat up, a yawning escaping his mouth.
"Yes! That's correct! In order to do so, we need unicorn hair."
Mabel screamed, slamming both hands on the table before climbing on it towards him.
"Grunkle Ford let me take the mission!! Unicorns are my favorite thing in the universe!!"
A chuckle left Dipper's mouth as he shook his head.
"She is all about unicorns, have been since I can remember."
Ford shook his head.
"Very well Mabel, the mission is yours."
She shrieked in pure excitement, taking off. She had to get Candy and Grenda, best adventure ever.
It was a couple hours later that they made it to the area needed.
Wendy had tagged along, Mabel agreeing it to be a good idea for extra muscle.
"Grenda!"
The bigger female took the book, reciting the chant before the ground started to shake, rumbling as a tall stone wall grew from at the ground.
Mabel was getting excited, Candy repeatedly mumbling the same line over and over.
"Must lick the neck. Must lick the neck."
"I bet they're all dead."
Mabel rolled her eyes.
"Of course they're not Wendy!"
"Ten bucks says you're wrong!"
Mabel grinned.
"I'll take that bet!"
She shoved at the door, the other three joining her until it slowly swung open.
They were greeted by the beautiful sight of the majestic unicorn, horn glistening in the sunlight.
All three stared in awe before Mabel lifted a hand, snickering.
"Pay up."
Wendy gave a groan, pulling out the bill and handing it to her.
"I was so ready to earn some not lose some."
"Remove your shoes, I have a thing against them."
Each of them obeyed, setting them by the door before Mabel went forward.
"Oh great and majestic creature! We require some of your hair!"
The unicorn shook her head.
"You must be pure of heart first!!"
"Go Mabel!!"
Wendy yelled, causing Mabel to give a wide smile.
The unicorns horn began to glow, the glow surrounding her.
"You are... Not pure of heart!!"
The unicorn gave a neigh or horror, stepping back.
All three of her friends gave an astonished gasp as Mabel stared.
"I'm not... Pure of heart?"
Wendy stomped forward.
"What are you talking about you stupid magical mammal?! Of course she is, she's got the purest hearts in the town!"
"My horn never lies!"
"Well it's lying now! Rescan her heart!"
"No!"
"Do it!"
Wendy's yelling faded away as Mabel stared silently, blank on what to do before she realized.
"She's right. I'm not pure of heart. I'm supposed to be a demon queen, and demons aren't pure."
All four of them looked at her, the argument falling as she looked at them.
"I idolized you, and you know what? I think it's time that came to an end!"
She could feel her rage boil up, hands burning as she glared toward the rainbow mythical creature.
She'd changed, eyes light blue with the demonic slit of a pupil.
"I'm not pure of heart, how can I be?! I'm not even supposed to be human!!"
Red flames burst from her hands as a wide smile crossed her face.
"But that's okay! I still need that hair! So either give it up freely or I'll burn it off!"
Wendy stepped back, pulling Candy and Grenda with her. The unicorn stared in utter terror before taking a step back as well.
"No! It's my hair! I don't need to give it up at all!"
"You know what? I think it's time to get physical! Mabel?"
Mabel snickered, the flames growing as Wendy pounded her first into her palm.
"Give me that hair!!"

It was about two hours later that the four girls returned to the shack, covered in scratches, bruises, burns and a thick rainbow fluid that stained their clothes.
Ford, Stan, and Dipper stared in utter astonishment.
"Goddamn, what'd you do? Kill a rainbow?"
"Language, Stanley."
Mabel gave a bright smile.
"Pretty much! But look!"
Wendy held up a handful of colorful hair, the very tips slightly singed.
"Might wanna cut off the burned parts."
"How did it burn in the first place?"
A triumphant grin crossed Mabel's face.
"I managed to activate my powers!"
