She'd been working all day, unable to figure out the activation when her walkie-talkie crackled to life.
"Dipper!"
Dashing to her bag, she snatched up the handy device, about to click the button when Dipper's voice was heard through it.
"Your apprentice?! Oh my god that'd be- that's- yes! I-I'd love to stay and learn under you!"
He sounded so excited, it hurt as she dropped it back in her bag, heading for the shack once more.
She felt as if in a daze, the words ringing in her head.
Did Dipper forget they would grow up together?
She gave a soft sigh, ignoring the shield that acknowledged her existence as she stepped up the porch.
She was in too much pain to acknowledge it, immediately trudging upstairs.
There she dropped her bag by the door, the tears threatening to over flow as she flopped on her bed and curled up.
Was he really leaving her behind?
It was a few more hours before Dipper finally arrived.
"Oh my god, Mabel you'll never believe what happened!"
"I heard everything."
He turned and finally noticed the blinking light of her walkie-talkie.
"Are you really staying?! You can't! I need you!"
Dipper set his bag by the door, never looking away from his sister.
"Mabel, we have to grow up sometime."
"Well I don't want to grow up!! You're just gonna leave me, all so you can become his apprentice!!"
She could feel her own despair building, her tears winning as they streamed down her face.
"You've had an awesome day, I haven't! I can't figure out my powers at all!"
She'd worked all day but nothing had worked. She couldn't take this, racing past him and out the door.
"Mabel wait!!"
Ignoring his protests, she raced down the stairs and out the front door and into the forest.
She didn't stop, running, her own despair and rage bubbling and boiling before red flames burst from her hands.
Shrieking, she fell back, though amazingly nothing caught with her flames.
Her fascination was soon replaced with her previous sorrow as she leaned against a tree and pulled her knees up, and cried.
But she didn't cry for long, an idea forming in her head before she stood.
"Dipper can't stay if there's no Gravity Falls to stay in."
Flames engulfed her hands again before she managed to diminish one.
After another moment of focusing, she only had a finger. Then she went back to her before she knelt in the dirt and began to draw.
Sure enough, a white dust like substance trailed behind, creating the perfect diagram in which was needed.
With each symbol in place, she thought carefully, making sure she had the chant before beginning.
The circle began to glow, brightly before flashing, the monotone pallet washing over the surrounding area.
"Well hello there! Thanks for - Mabel?"
Bill had appeared, triangle form and completely surprised.
His form changed to his more human one, running a hand through his half dark yellow and half black hair.
"What... can I do for my queen?"
She was silent, not sure how to state it before huffing.
"Tell me how to use my powers. I want to know."
Bill raised an eyebrow, glancing to her hands.
"It looks like you've already got it figured out."
She growled, throwing both hands down.
"This was an accident!! I want to know how to use them at will!!"
Flames flared around her, making him jump and groan.
"Okay fine, but first I need something from you."
Mabel was silent, crossing her arms as she thought it over.
If she got him what he needed, she would learn how to use her powers. Sure she'd probably end up trapped out of the shack but she felt it was worth it.
"Alright."
A grin spread on his face, blue flames engulfing his hand as he offered it to her.
She put up a hand.
"Not yet Dorito, I want details before hand so you can't trick me. Details."
He flinched, she had her quick thinking and negotiating.
"Alright, I'm looking for a certain object."
Mabel raised an eyebrow, making Bill groan before putting out a hand.
Flames puffed up, forming what looked like a snowglobe, cracks over the glass surface.
"Huh, yeah okay. That's all you need?"
Bill nodded and she put out her hand, red flames engulfing it.
"Alright. You teach me to use my powers and I'll get the snowglobe for you."
"Its not a-"
He bit his sentence in half before taking her hand, their colored flames swirling in a mix before vanishing.
They released their hold, Mabel giving a big smile.
"Okay! When do we start, Dorito?"
She gave a snrk as Bill scowled, taking his triangular shape once more.
"Where have you already gotten to?"

About three hours later, they hadn't gotten much further but she'd been able to at least activate them at will now.
She threw out a hand, a puff of flames shooting out and Bill immediately started laughing.
"That was pathetic, Shooting Star!"
She glared at him, placing a hand on her hip and snapping.
Red flames instantly engulfed him, yanking a shriek from him, changing his shape as the flames went out.
"Okay fine, just wimpy. It's better than when you started. Alright, tomorrow we'll continue your lessons, at the end of the day get me my item. Be here.... somewhat early in the morning."
Mabel nodded, turning away.
"Okay, I'll get you're snowglobe after my lesson tomorrow. Where would it be?"
She looked back to him, Bill tapping his chin before snapping softly.
"Try Ford's office. Tomorrow I'll teach you to teleport yourself so that you can get in and out quickly."
She gave a big smile.
"Thanks for helping me Bill."
Her smile startled him and he quickly turned away, hiding his blush as she took off.
"Shit... She's exactly like her..."
His queen was so close but he wasn't sure if there was anyway to actually bring her back.
"... Weirdmageddon is gonna be deadly, I need to protect her during it."
And with that decision he vanished from the forest.
