Ford hesitated, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Dipper... is that a good idea?"
Dipper shrugged, sighing.
"I'm not sure, but we have to try. If we explain to her why we suggest it, maybe she'll understand and agree."
Both males were hesitant but Ford eventually nodded.
"Alright, ask her as soon as possible. Wait too long and it could end up too late."
Dipper nodded, deciding to ask now as he got to his feet, heading back upstairs.
Pushing the vending machine closed, he looked into the kitchen, only finding Waddled by the chair.
"The living room?"
He headed over, moving through when he only found it empty.
Grumbling under his breath, he headed to the attic, pushing open the door.
There she was, laying on her bed and working on her scrapbook.
"Hey Mabes! I've been looking for you!"
His sister looked up, giving a big smile.
"What's up Brobro? Candy, Grenda and Wendy already went home, if that'd your question."
He shook his head, sitting on his bed as she sat up as well.
"No I was actually talking with Ford... Regarding your... Um... question."
Mabel was confused for a moment before she remembered.
"Oh! About the shield?"
Dipper nodded, wringing his hands. He was nervous over how she'd take it.
"Ford and I - no... Just I, came up with an idea. I wasn't sure if you'd like it but... We both think that you could end up rejected by the shield if you keep figuring out your powers."
Mabel put up a hand, her face was actually serious as she gazed towards him.
"Are you suggesting I don't leave the shack or something else?"
Dipper shook his head.
"Something else. If you take a temporary... Break? From discovering your powers the shield won't reject your entrance because you'll still have only just began the process of discovering them."
Mabel was silent, contemplating the truth of this before giving a sigh.
"I'm gonna have to think it over, I mean, I really want to figure out my powers so... I need to think about it."
Dipper nodded, sliding off his bed and heading for the door.
"Okay, I can give you that... And Mabel? I'm not suggesting it to... Take away your fun, I just want to keep you safe too..."
"I know Brobro, thanks."
They traded a smile before Dipper headed downstairs, running a hand through his hair.
"Wow... That was nerve-racking."

Mabel slid off her own bed, beginning a slow thoughtful pace.
"Dipper's right, if I don't stop trying to get my powers to work, they could end up the reason I can't come back in..."
She took another step, pivoting and heading the other way.
"But if I don't stop and succeed on mastering them, maybe I could use them to help against Bill. If Weirdmageddon were to happen, we could be next to defenseless. The shield sure would help, yes, but it can only do so much..."
She took a couple of steps before pivoting once more.
She couldn't think of this as fun, but important. If she went against what Dipper suggested, she could end up stuck.
"Mabel!"
She turned as Dipper pushed open the door.
"Hey, Grunkle Ford's asked me to go on a super important mission with him."
She stared before giving a big smile.
"Dude that's awesome! I'll pack your bag, make sure to grab the walkie-talkie from the charger, than you can tell me everything as you go!"
Dipper did as told, soon receiving the packed bag from Mabel who's smile started to fade.
"Hey Dipper? You... Won't be mad at me if I decide not to take your suggestion will you?"
Both twins were silent before Dipper took the bag and slid it on his bag.
Then he flashed a new smile.
"No way! If you've got a plan for if we're right over the shield, then I'm supporting you all the way!"
Her was surprised but a new smile spread over her face, hugging him tightly.
"Thanks Brobro! Now, you go have fun on your mission!"
Dipper raced out of the room, to walkie-talkie in hand as he met up with Ford.
Mabel picked up her own bag, decision made as she grabbed an extra sweater then headed downstairs.
Heading for the kitchen, she grabbed a couple of water bottles and put them in her bag. After a moment she grabbed a candy bar and a couple of protein bars before zipping it shut.
Then she realized and raced upstairs, grabbing her own walkie-talkie.
Now she could tell Dipper of her progress.
She raced back down the stairs, grabbing her bag and dashing to the door.
"I'll be back later, Grunkle Stan!"
Without waiting for an answer, she dashed out the door and down the stairs.
Unknowingly to her, the shield acknowledged her exit, rippling awake before shutting down once more.
She gave a little dance before heading into the forest, looking for a spot she'd remembered finding to begin her practice.
It was a couple of hours later that she found it, a large eating with a single stump in the center. Oddly enough the stump felt important to her so rather than setting her bag on it, she set it beside it.
"Okay now, where to start."
She pulled her walkie-talkie out, clicking the button.
"Mabes to Dip-dot, come in."
No answer. She waited a second before trying once more, clicking the button.
"Mabes to Dip-dot, come in?"
Once again no answer, ending with her simply sighing and putting it in her bag once more.
"He must be in a low signal spot or something."
Her enthusiasm for trying her powers didn't fade though as she gave a big smile.
"Oh well! I'll just tell him once he's in range!"
She punched the air.
"To figure out the triggers...what happened that activated them at the Unicorns place?"
She punched her other hand forward.
"I got... Mad... I think. When she called me impure. Even thought I'm not i suppose...."
She took a stance, holding out both hands and letting her breath out slowly.
"So what if I..."
She sat down, crossing her legs and putting her hands out to her sides as if holding something.
"I never could get meditating down, maybe I can now."
Hopefully she could.
