Part 6 ~ Preparation

The next day we all met in the dinning hall to discuss preparation for the confrontation of king Laufey. We were going to use the bifrost to get us to Jotunheim. 

"After we get to Jotunheim, we will take camp for a night. The next day, we will head for the palace."

We nodded our heads.

"We will most likely end up in a battle, so be prepared, we are going to take 15 other warriors with us to help."

"Are we going to kill him?" Fandral asked Odin."

"Most likely, and the king of Svartalfheim will probably die too."

"After you are all finished eating, I would like to meet you all in the throne room." Queen Frigga said to us.

We followed the queen to the throne room and there were two large tables with weapons on one and armor on the other.

"I have made you all gifts to take with you into battle. One by one, I will call you up to take you things. Volstagg, please come forward."

He walked up to the queen and she handed him new armor and a sword. His armor had a red tunic with a golden chest plate. His sword was a lion on the hilt.

"Your sword will light up in flames when you get near the Jotuns or dark elves, the sheath is fireproof so the flames won't catch you on fire."

He nodded his head in thanks and walked back to the group.

"Sif."

Lady Sif slowly walked up to Frigga and she was handed armor and a bow and arrow. Her tunic was a deep blue, a small silver headband, and a silver chest plate with gold designs.

"Lady Sif, I have given you this bow that will aid you well in battle, the arrows you shoot will never miss."

Sif nodded her head, "thank you your majesty."

"Thor my son."

Thor walked up to his mother and was handed a dark grey chest plate with a short half cape the color of bright red. He was also given a silver helmet with wings on it.

"My son you already have Mjolnir so I have given you one of your fathers helms." She smiled to him.

"Thanks you mother."

"Hogun. Please step forward."

Hogun went up to the queen and she gave him a tan tunic, golden chest plate, and bronze gauntlets.

"The right gauntlet will become a poison dart shooter if you twist your wrist, and the left gauntlet turns into a shield when you clash them together."

He nodded his head and stepped down.

She called Fandral up and he got a bronze chest plate and a dark brown tunic. She then handed him a large ax. 

"The ax I give you was made with the sharpest metal from Alfheim, the realm of the light elves. This ax is unbreakable and can cut through anything."

"Loki, son, please come forward."

Loki walked up to her and was given a forest green and black tunic and a dark silver chest plate with gold markings. He was also given a two golden daggers.

"These daggers were mine, they will guide you to your enemies weak points."

"Y/n." She called my name.

I slowly walked up to her and she handed me a tunic that was a slightly lighter shade of green than Loki's, paired with a golden chest plate and a gold headband. I was also handed a gold staff with an emerald colored crystal in the top {a/n, think of Loki's staff}

"This staff allows you to be able to channel your magic through it and can be very powerful. Use it wisely for it's power can control you."

"Thank you my queen." I said taking the items and stepping back down.

"Now that you have your gifts, you may be excused to you chambers for the rest of the night. You will leave early tomorrow morning."

We were all in Sif's room wearing our new armor and polishing our weapons.

I was confused why me and Loki were the only ones that had similar armor. We both had the color green while everyone else had a different color. 

"I'm kind of scared to use this staff, Frigga said it could control me if I didn't use it right." I said holding up the surprisingly light weapon.

"I'm sure that won't happen." Thor said reassuringly placing his new helmet down.

I nodded my head.

"I wonder why you two got green." Sif pointed out.

"Yeah I don't know why." I said looking at her.

"Maybe its because you are the only two that can use magic?" Hogun suggested.

"Maybe." Loki said twirling his daggers in the air with his magic. 

After a few hours Everyone fell asleep except for me and Loki, we were talking about our weapons Frigga gave us.

"So those were your mothers?" He nodded his head.

"Yes, she always kept them with her."

"The staff is a lot lighter than I thought it would be," I said holding it up and handing it to him to have a look.

"Yes, it is made out of the rare type of Asgardian gold found deep into the mountains." I nodded my head remembering that I read something about that in a history of Asgard book.

He handed the staff back to me and I set it down.

"Why are you so nice all of the sudden? you haven't tried to play a trick on me or teased me in a while."

He huffed. never mind.

"I don't know what you are talking about." He said crossing his arms and looking away.

"We haven't fought or gotten angry at each other in a while. I like it."

He looked at me with a slight blush on his cheeks, he was silent.

"Loki?" I said slightly concerned

"Oh nothing," he looking away again.

"Ok... Well I'm going to head to bed then," I said standing up.

"Goodnight," Loki said still looking the other way.

"Goodnight." I said leaving the room.

The feeling came back to me. It was stronger though, as I walked back to my chambers the words finally came to me. 

I love him.

As y/n left the room, I couldn't stop thinking of her. My stomach felt like it had butterflies in it and my face heated up when she spoke to me just then.

My feelings for her over the years have changed and I was treating her better everyday. It was strange, when I was around her, I wasn't the god of mischief. Her presence made me happy and I smiled. I used to hate her so much. And now...

I felt like I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her.
