the receptionist isn't here right now
she's on her dissociative lunch break getting caffeine
the line at the coffee shop never stays small
every worker nodding out of polite kindness
she sits quietly outside, tea in hand
back to the busy busy busy empty hours of answering calls and questions
smiling and chipper and not quite all there
she gives each new visiter a laughing grin
but all they see is a charismatic greeting card
