I thought of a new name! I quite like it but I might end up changing it. I am now writing this on my phone because my nose is stuffed, I can't smell and I can't sleep. So... I might not finish it now but I will. Eventually... I hope.
Chapter seven - It's you and me against the world, buddy.
The ride back home was a silent one. Everyone was still in shock of what had happened. Captain America, the man who had lived for 80 (sorry, still don't know how old he is) years was dead, dead! Tony stared in front of him holding Steve's limp head on his lap. He had cried so much already and was dry. Not a single tear came out. He wanted to kick himself for that. I should be mourning, crying! Why am I like this? He repeated to himself over and over again. This is all my fault! He looked down at Steve's perfect face. His eyes shut and his mouth half open. His lopsided grin would never be seen again. His crazy hair in the morning and his weird taste of music. His amazing cooking and insistence on eating meals together as a family. Tony started shaking as the tears started coming again. Natasha immediately moved to squat in front of him while Thor put an arm on Tony's shoulder, Bruce watched from the side, he wasn't a people's person. All of them eerily silent. But surprisingly it calmed Tony down enough to tell them what he had just thought. Natasha said,
"Just because he is gone doesn't mean that we won't do those things anymore. We can still eat meals together! And movie night. We can do that all in memory of him. He may be gone but his spirit will last forever. Steve left an imprint on this world. It will not be easily forgotten. He died a hero Tony, that is the best way of dying. To know that you saved people."
"Thanks, Nat," Tony said softly wiping his nose on his sleeve. She smiled wryly. Thor clapped him on his back and Tony winced a bit.
"My friends, we must tell Fury, and Midgard," Thor said trying to say it as softly as possible.
"Fury knows, he always knows. I'm just scared to how he'll react, and Earth. I think we could do an interview. Maybe?" Tony said nervously.
" If you do an interview, I'm coming," Natasha said resolutely.
" Thanks, Nat. I appreciate it. " Tony said sadly. Thor thumped his back again. Tony winced as Clint said,
"Guys, we're back." Bruce bit his lip as they looked out the window. There on the landing platform stood Fury. He was looking sadly at the nearing quinjet. They all stepped out supporting Steve on Tony and Thor's shoulders which was a bit difficult because of height difference and all. Fury gently nudged Tony away and he and Thor carried Steves limp body to the hospital ward at the tower. Tony sunk to the floor holding his head in his hands. Gently Bruce pulled his arm up and brought him inside. Natasha and Clint were the only ones left standing. They looked up at each other,
" This will be hard," Clint said.
"Yeah," Natasha said softly before turning and walking into the tower. " I'm going to go and pick up Peter." She said over her shoulder.
"Erm, yeah, Peter, Peter!" He remembered. 'Shit.' He thought to himself. Peter might not take this well. At least he was extremely attached to Tony.
Then he jogged inside.
-
"Pepper! I'm here!" Natasha said knocking on the door of Peppers apartment. Pepper opened the door and Peter ran out into Natasha wide open arms.
"Hey, I heard about Steve. How is Tony holding up?" Pepper said.
"He'll survive. He scheduled an interview later. He has to tell the world sooner or later. So why not now." Natasha said.
"Ok. Peter was an angel honestly. I'll see you next time ok?" Pepper said.
"Got it," Natasha said before climbing into her car and speeding away with Peter.
-
Later that evening Tony put on a suit and walked down to the parking lot. Natasha was standing next to his car.
"Ready?" She asked.
"Ready as I'll ever be." He replied, putting on a fake smile.
-
"So Mr Stark, what brings you here today?" The reporter asks curiously.
"Well, I have some news I want to tell the world."
Tony replied irritated at the reporter's eagerness. Natasha saw this and immediately put a comforting hand on his arm. He smiled at her.
" Ohh! Are you and Miss Romanov in a relationship?" The reporter asked eagerly.
"What? No! Of course not...I was in a relationship with someone on the team. Someone I lost. " Tony stood up and faced the camera. " Everyone. I'm sorry to say that Captain America is dead." The reporter gasped, everyone watching the television at that moment gasped. Tony broke down. Sobbing.
"Can you give us a second?" Natasha kindly asked the reporter who nodded slowly. She began mumbling kind and soothing words to Tony. He nodded along to her murmurs before Tony pulled his head out of his hands and smiled his charming smile before saying,
"Thank you for your time!" Then Natasha and he stood up and left the room abruptly, no one stopping them, because, who in their right mind would.

Back at the tower, Tony held Peter near to his chest as he softly hummed a lullaby to him.
"Goodnight Peter," He whispered making move to place him on his bed.
"Dad," Peter said reaching out for Tony. Tony's eyes sprang wide open as he held Peter closer as he couldn't believe it. Peter's first word that he had spoken with them was 'Dad'. He felt tears brimming his eyes as he spoke,
"It's you and me against the world, buddy."
Ha. Bet you didn't expect that did ya? Muahaha! Next chapter random things will happen so... Yeah.
Seeya!
