Chapter eleven - Chicken gobbling?
Peter had been a the Tower for a couple of months now and everyone was used to the little guy toddling around. No one took it personally when they realized that Peter would only like to be held by three people, Natasha, Loki and Tony. In that specific order. Tony was, of course, irritated that Peter preferred Natasha and Loki over him but Peter did need a mother figure as well as a protective older brother figure. The rest of the inhabitants of the Tower were like his uncles. Thor had been extremely pleased when Loki was easily accepted into the Avengers. They even did some small missions with him and he proved to be quite handy especially with his knowledge of dark magic and determination to win. Peter had been with the Avengers for 5 months now and according to his birth certificate his birthday is on the 30th of October and right at this moment, it was October 20th the Avengers had to face their most difficult mission ever. Peter Starks 3rd birthday party. All they knew was that Peter liked red and blue and that he also liked caramel ice cream. Peter had by now gotten used to eaten and almost all the fluids had left his body. The entire team was ecstatic about how well Peter was recovering and wanted him to have the biggest best party ever! But it was proving a bit difficult. Natasha never had a birthday party, Thor and Loki never had one either, Clint had birthday parties but his interests were quite different from Peter and Bruce and Tony never actually took time to celebrate birthdays. The only person who would have done that would be Steve but he wasn't here. As Tony thought that he choked up a little, ready to start sobbing like the crying wreck he was but he remembered Loki's words and faked a smile. He still cried himself to sleep every single night but then no one was there to watch him or pity his wallowing.
As the Avengers sat in the living room together they were all brainstorming. At first, birthdays had to be explained to Thor and Loki but after a while, they understood the concept.
"Bowling?" said Clint.
"No." replied Tony
"Slumber party?" said Natasha.
"No." replied Tony.
"Chicken gobbling?" Thor tried.
"What no! Thor, seriously?" Tony replied incredulously.
"HALLOWEEN!" Loki cried.
"What?!" Tony replied alarmed.
"I was doing some research on Midgardian traditions, they have 'Halloween'. Where they dress up and collect candy from strangers. Maybe he could do a dress up party." Loki continued.
"Halloween?" Thor asked, still confused even after Loki's explanation.
"Oh, that's actually a really good idea. I didn't know you had it in you, Loki." Tony said.
"Excuse me," Loki said, severely offended at Tony's words.
"We could invite all the kids of the people we know and tell them to dress up! It will have to be on Halloween though and we have to go trick or treating and we have to find the perfect costume and make the invitations and there has to be cake and candy and drinks and -" Tony rambled on.
"Tony, calm down. We can handle this. Loki writes the invitations. Clint will get the cake, I will handle the places to trick or treat. Bruce will get food and drinks and Thor and Tony can find the perfect costume." She said and quickly wrote down for Loki what to write on the invitations, as well as the cake for Clint and the food and drinks for Bruce. "All, good?" she continued glancing at each of them in turn. They nodded surprised at the quick thinking of Natasha that somehow always worked.
Soon enough everyone was hard at work getting supplies and things ready. Well, except for Tony and Thor. They were sitting in the middle of the living room brainstorming. Tony had pulled out a hologram/computer thing out of the armrest because of course he had one there, and he was flipping through Halloween costumes for 3-year-olds.
"Does it have to be spooky?" He asked himself.
"What is Halloween, Man of Metal?"Thor asked, extremely confused.
"Did you even listen to Loki, Thor? Ug, Halloween is when children dress up in costumes and run around the neighbourhood asking strangers for candy on the 31st of October. They ring the doorbell and shout 'Trick or treat!' and the resident of the house will hand out the sweets to the children. Get it?" Tony asked looking at Thor.
"Erm, I have questions. What is the 31st of Oktoobur and what is spuki?" He asked shamelessly staring at Tony.
"Oh my lord. (No offence to anyone who would find this offensive.)"Tony groaned smacking his palm against his head. "31st of Oc-to-ber is a date on which kids go 'trick or treating' - (at that moment Thor opened his mouth to ask another question.) Trick or treating is collecting candy. (Thor nodded and closed his mouth.) and Sp-oo-ky is scary. Understood?" Tony said, his patience running thin. Thor nodded before opening his mouth.
"What is-" He started.
"NO, no no no. You, shut up." Tony said holding his hand in front of him. After an hour he still had no ideas. He glanced over at Thor to see him with his hand in the air.
"What," Tony said hotly.
"What about, mini Man of Metal?" Thor asked. Tony was about to say something negative about it until he thought about it and closed his open mouth.
"Actually, that is a great idea. Thor, you actually contributed. You can go now." Tony said turning to the hologram.
"Can I help?" Thor asked. Tony thought about it. He really did.
"What about, no." He said after a pause.
"Please? I'll be helpful." Thor said. Tony looked at Thor. He made a choice he was sure that he would regret.
"Ug, fine."
Hello, hello. I'm back! My trip to Mallorca was amazing! Beaches, beaches everyday. But when I got back I had the idea to write this chapter so here it is! Party plan. What should be the next title. I'm thinking of 'Party into the night and sing!' Is it weird? Anyways,
Seeya!
