"What?" I asked, extremely confused. We had just caught Ashley last night. "She escaped?"

All I heard was the sounds of fighting. The sound of fist against flesh made me flinch. I really hoped it was Ashley who was getting her butt kicked. I was looking up, and saw a foot at the edge, and the swing of a blonde ponytail. Then, Erica said something that made my blood run cold.

"Ben," she said calmly, "I'm going to need you to catch."

A million emotions went through my head, from ok, sure! To what the heck, Erica?! I can't catch her! But I sucked it all up, and said,

"I'm ready when you are."

The same moment I ended the sentence, Ashley came flying over the edge. As it turned out, I wasn't ready, not at all. Even though I had made some calculations on her trajectory, speed, weight, and how far she had to fall, I still wasn't in the right spot. I made another set of calculations, and moved two feet to my left, just in time for me to snag my arms around her waist.

As it turns out, I slowed her fall just enough that she didn't sprain or break anything. But then she recovered way faster than I did. I was dazed, because I had also fallen and hit my head. She got up, intending to knock me out.

"Come on, Ashley." I pleaded.

She hesitated the tiniest bit, but then Erica came down, and ran towards us. Ashley decided to avoid her conflicted feelings, and kicked me in the head.

"Oh Ben," Erica muttered as she reached me. "Why do you always have to lose consciousness?"

I wanted to argue that I hardly lose consciousness, but didn't have the energy to. I did have the energy to ask another question, though.

"Why aren't you going after her?" I asked, slowly.

Erica's eyes flashed different emotions for a slip second, but returned to her ice-face.

She turned me towards the direction Ashley had gone, and I saw a car, that Ashley hopped into, and it drove away. But Erica still haven't answered my question. Ashley had escaped into a car, Erica would have followed, if she left me. But then again, I'm glad she didn't abandon me. It is not a good idea to lose consciousness in the middle of the light in a strange city.

As Erica picked me up and helped me back to the moped, I realized something very helpful. I had seen the license plate for the car. And I never, ever, forget a number or string of them. As I lost consciousness on the scooter, leaning on Erica's back, I smiled to myself.

As I woke up, it took me a second to realize how I got back into the lobby of the Z Victoria hotel. Then I remembered. I lost consciousness, and I opened my eyes. I heard a small sigh of relief, and I looked toward the sound.

It appeared to have been Erica, but I wasn't sure.

"He's up," she said to someone I couldn't see.

"It's about time," said Cyrus. I couldn't actually see him, but I would recognize the condescending tone anywhere.

"Don't be so harsh." Erica and Catherine said at the same time.

Cyrus just rolled his eyes, but then I said something that changed his attitude.
