The Z Victoria Hotel

Floor 5, my room (shared with Mike)

April 1

1300 hours

"Oh," I said in a small voice.

Erica and Cyrus growled in frustration and both wheeled to Alexander, who was just starting to get up.

"Oh my." he said, when he saw Warren was missing and Cyrus' face. "I think I was chloroformed."

"Oh, you think?" Catherine hissed sarcastically.

Now, I know almost nothing about divorces, but this seemed like it was a huge blow to Alexander. After all, this was someone he had loved (and probably still does. From what I can tell, Catherine broke it off), and she was heavily criticizing him.

Zoe started to go sit at the desk, but Cyrus stopped her.

"We can't mess anything in this room up. There could be evidence that shows where Mr. E was before, such as pebbles from the bottom of his shoe. Everyone needs to look, got it?"

"Yes," we all chorus, except for Mike, who has confusion written all over his face.

"Why would SPYDER want to rescue Warren, anyway?" he asked. "He isn't good at much."

"That's want I'm wondering." Catherine said. "From what I know about him, he is a sucky spy. Even Ben could defeat him is a fight. Sorry, Ben. The only thing he is good at is camouflage and betraying his friends. So maybe he is a part of SPYDER's plan somehow? Otherwise, why would they go through the trouble?" she finished, shooting me an apologetic look for the dig about my fighting skills.

"It's ok," I said.

"That's a good point," Zoe concedes. I can tell she's thinking hard, trying to bring down her friend-turned-enemy.

"Well, are we going to get on with looking around the room?" Erica asked impatiently. "Or should I order room service? With all the talking you are doing, you must be thirsty." she said scathingly.

Zoe rolled her eyes, and we got to work. We started with the bathroom, and found a chloroform rag in the trash. Catherine picked it up with tweezers, and Alexander immediately said,

"That's the rag I was knocked out with! It has Mr. E's initial on it! Check the back!"

We did, and for, like, the second time in his life, Alexander was right.

Erica tugged on my sleeve, and I turned. She signaled to come out of the bathroom, and I followed.

"What?" I asked.

"That rag is a dead end. It will be virtually impossible to track down who bought the chloroform and see where they went. So, we are going to get ahead and search the rest of the room." she said simply.

"Ok," I said. I knew this was a long shot, but I wanted to find a solid lead. I knew deep down that the rag was a dead end, but I hoped it was a real lead. I was searching on the floor, when I found a paper.

I pulled it out carefully, trying not to get my fingerprints on it. I got it out eventually, and called Erica over in a hushed voice.

"You've got something?" she asked, like a kid on Christmas.

"Yeah. A paper I found under our dresser." I responded eagerly.

It was now fully opened, and it said:

Warren Reeves, you have been accepted as a waiter at the English Grill. Your first shift starts today at 5:00 p.m., and call the phone number below to accept our offer. Best wishes,

The English Grill.

Below was the phone number, and I quickly memorized it.

"You got it?" Erica asked, referring to the number.

"Yeah."

"Good, let's tell Cyrus." she said, standing up. I followed suit, and we walked over to the bathroom. Cyrus was just giving out instructions.

"Mike and Zoe will get this down to the lab, and Catherine you will find out which store it was bought from. I will get the security feeds and track the person or car. Are we good?"

"Yes," Mike, Zoe, and Catherine said.

"You don't need to for that." Erica said calmly. "Ben and I found a solid lead. Ben, show the paper."

I did, and Catherine beamed.

"You are the perfect team!" she said proudly.

Erica let out the tiniest of smiles ever made, and it was quickly washed off her face. Cyrus also smiled, and he turned back to Mike, Zoe, and Catherine.

"Scratch that," he said. "We're making reservations at the English Grill."

I smiled, and turned to Erica, who smiled a little back. I happy that I had found a lead, but even happier that Erica smiled back at me.

We called the English Grill, and Catherine did the talking.

"Hello, how do you do?" she asked in her lovely accent.

"Very well, miss." said the person on the other line. The voice was so garbled, we couldn't tell if was a SPYDER agent talking or not.

"I would like to make reservations at 7:30 for seven people." Catherine said.

"7:30 for seven people?" the voice said.

"Yes please!"

"Alright, 7:30. See you then!"

With that, the line went dead.

"Hmm," Erica said.

"What?" Mike asked.

"Well, the English Grill is a very nice place. Nice enough that we will have to go shopping for nice clothes so we don't stand out. With that being said, the person on the other end didn't talk very formally. So, I'm betting they were new or, more likely, SPYDER agents." she explained.

"I agree." Cyrus and Catherine said at the same time.

"So, are we going clothes shopping?" Alexander said excitedly.

"Unfortunately, yes." Erica said, sighing.

"Great! I need a new suit!"

We all filled out of the room, and took a bus to a fancy clothes store. It was pretty big, and had various levels of fanciness. There were suits you could wear to church, and then suits you would wear to meet the Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth.

"Wow!" Alexander exclaimed, looking ecstatic. "This place is amazing!"

No one else was as happy as Alexander, however. And for Cyrus, I think this was because of Alexander himself.

"Will you keep your voice down?" he hissed angrily.

Alexander cast his eyes down, but there was still excitement in them.

"Well, Alexander, you can take the boys, and I'll take the girls." Catherine said in a clipped tone.

I turned to Erica, trying to see her reaction upon having learned she was going to be with Zoe, after all, they haven't been getting along very well. Instead, she was eyeing a pale blue dress with little cherry blossoms on the hem. She saw me looking at her, and quickly looked away. She blushed slightly, though still managing to give me a cold glare. Though, I have to admit, the dress was pretty.

We slip up into the two groups, and Alexander led us off to a fancy section of three-piece suits.

"We are going to have so much fun!" he said happily.

A/N  Sorry for the really short chapter. Hopefully the next one will be longer, and then gradually longer after that. Bye for now!
