I'll sleep when I'm dead

Maks POV, TIME: after meeting

Weapon supplier: So you're askin me to hand over some still-in-development riot armor that's literally 2 tons heavy along with a steel shield that adds another ton! Boy, are you trying to fight a tank or trying to put captain America to shame?

Maks: The higherups don't want their gold laying hen to die in its next mission.

W.P: This costs literally 50 grand and you're almost likely to damage it in battle.

Maks: You gotta spend money to make money.

W.P: The mini gun your requesting cost $400,000 to fire every 12 seconds.

Maks: Ya and all those bullets will be up your ass if you don't—

Commander: Just do as he says Jerald, he's not one to trifle with.

W.P: hmph Baka, fine.

Location: inside flying carrier.

Maks: 'Dam is this what it feels like to be tony stark, I feel like I should lose a ruble for every step I take.'

All of the soldiers in the helicopter are in their seats talking to each other. The destination is closing in as the helicopter strides through the crisp night air.

Maks sits in blissful silence at the corner of the carrier enjoying its vibrations. 

Maks: hmmm I wonder how they are doing. The last time I saw them I left a sad mom and my sister who felt betrayed.

FLASHBACK

Maks: Adria I'm sorry but I ha- *SLAP*

Adria stands in front of maks. Tears streaming down her face with a red hand from slapping him.

Adria: how could you, mom has already lost dad and now you want to go too? Why? *falls down to knees and sobs* why do you want to die like dad did alone in a battlefield? Why do you want mom and me to lose another person we love? WHY!

Maks kneels down and hugs his curled crying little sister. She weeps while burying her head in his chest while telling him to not go.

Maks: Sis I love you but... I don't want you to be in danger. Dad died for us while fighting on the battlefield. I don't want to lose you or mom... even if that means I have to die for you.

Adria continues to cry for what seems like hours before falling asleep in her brother's arms. Maks gently picks her up princess style and takes her to her room and tucks Adria into her bed then walks out.

Before he could leave, Lana opens her bedroom door. She has heavy red eyes from crying and walks over to Maks and hugs him.

Lana: Dammit, Why do you have to take after him so much, can't you stay here and watch your sister grow up.

Maks: Dad uses to say " I'll sleep when I'm dead before I let my family suffer" I'd sooner get shot then let my sister be in danger mom. You've seen the news, tensions are rising and fighting is breaking out in parts of the world. I need to do this.

Maks walks to the exit and opens it.

Maks: I love you mom, goodbye.

END FLASHBACK

Luindin: Sir, we're about 100 miles away from our drop off point. Would you like to debrief the plan or should I do it?

Maks: ahh I'll do it

Maks stands up without his helmet on and slaps his hands to gain everyone's gaze.

Maks: Alright comrades I want your undivided attention right now while I go over our plan again. Phase one, we will silently dive out this carrier and into the base then parachute in. The carrier is too high in the air to be heard. We will then force open any doors that will let us get in the base after clearing out all of their guards outside. If we encounter a metal door we can't force open then we will blow it open. Luindin show them

Luindin opens up a padded and explosive resistant duffel bag packed with C4.

Maks: After we break-in, we will begin phase two, continue to search for the leading research leader Kim Wong and have her open any doors that lead to any of the weapons she is working on. After that our two bomb defuse soldiers will extract all the explosive products in the bombs hidden inside this base and we will take those explosive elements deeper into the complex.

When we reach the deepest part of their underground base we will then begin phase three and stock pile all the explosive elements we gained and attach it to a bomb we brought that has a wireless detonator on it. After arming the new bomb we will backtrack ourselves out of this place and run to our Getaway driver to scatter far away from this place before making it blow.

Soldier: What if the lead researcher doesn't want to cooperate with us.

Maks : More lives are at stake than her team's. We will threaten and if necessary kill her colleagues if she doesn't comply with our demands. Any more questions?

*silence*

Maks: good now get ready we are closing in on our site.

The lights in the carrier turn to yellow signaling they are going to have to jump soon. The soldiers grab all their parachutes and strap them on. Maks has to wear a specially modified parachute to make sure he doesn't fall too fast. When he jumps, two small parachutes will be opened preemptively to match his drop speed with everyone else's. Then 3 bigger parachutes will open to soften his landing.

The lights in the carrier turn red and the main cargo door slowly opens. All the soldiers line up while waiting to hear the buzzer go off to signal that it's finally time to jump.
