(Destiny's POV)
Society is an important thing. If everything is under control and everyone is happy, the society is doing good. Now if anything happens, even the smallest thing, everything turns into a disaster.

I was 8 years old and I lived the perfect life. I had a big house; a ton of friends; my parents who loved me, my siblings, and each other; and the best brother and sister I could ask for. Everything was just perfect. I was 8 and 8 year olds don't really know what's going on and what not so I just assumed everything was as perfect in the real world as it was where I lived. Well I was very wrong. Things were slowly falling apart. More wars were happening as the days went by, money was getting harder to get, people getting killed, and basically everything falling apart. That's when the leaders at that time realized that they had enough of it. They decided to split up the guys and the girls to stop them from reproducing. They were done with us. They were basically killing off all humans but in a way that they didn't kill anyone. They separated husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, girlfriends and boyfriends, mother and sons, daughter and fathers. They built a gate to separate the girls and the guys and now here we are.

My name is Destiny Mires and I'm 16 years old. 8 years have passed ever since the separation. 8 years have passed since I've seen my dad and little brother. 8 years have passed since I've seen any guy. 8 years have passed since I've been living with my mother and older sister. Ever since the separation, things have been really different. Each section has a leader, a girl leader for the girls and a guy leader for the guys. There have been so many laws added too. For example, no one is allowed to cross the gate or if you're seen with a person opposite gender, you're both killed off immediately. So I've just been trying my best to live my life until my death. I honestly don't see a point in living anymore but I try just for the sake of my sister and mother. I get up and use the bathroom, wash my hands and face, and take a quick shower then go to eat breakfast. My mom was already gone and I wasn't surprised. She was barely ever home. Ever since the separation she's become so down and has hardly been home so it's usually just me and my sister, Isla, taking care of ourselves.

"Hey so what are you going to be doing today?" she asks.

"I don't know. I'll probably just hang out with some friends after school. What about you?" I ask.

"I'm going to go hang out with some friends too. I'll probably be home late so don't wait for me okay?" she says.

"Okay," I say.

Looks like it was just going to be me tonight. I eat my breakfast then head off to school.
