Not Alone

Part 2

I go to school and I see my friends, Mia and Nessa, waiting for me.

"Hey guys," I say.

"Hey," they say at the same time.

"I'll see you guys later. I have to talk to my teacher before class starts so I'm going to go earlier," Mia says.

"Okay see you," Nessa and I say.

"So how's everything?" I ask.

"As good as it'll ever be. I really hate this place so much. I wish everything was the same as it was 8 years ago," Nessa says.

"Yeah I wish," I say.

We sit down and start looking at nothing specific while sitting in comforting silence.

"Well we should probably get going. It's getting kind of late," I say.

"Yeah you're right. I'll see you later," she says.

"See you," I say.

Skip school day

"That was torture," I say after meeting with Nessa and Mia.

"Agreed," Nessa says while Mia nods her head.

"Guys I gotta go. My mom is waiting for me to come help her clean the house," Mia says.

"I have to go too. I told my sister I would help her with homework today," Nessa says.

"Aww I really wanted to hang out with you guys today!" I say.

"Agh! I'm sorry! I wouldn't have promised my mom if I knew," Mia says.

"Same I'm sorry Destiny!" Nessa says.

"It's okay guys! Go help your mom and sister. I'll figure out what to do," I say.

"Bye Des!" they say, calling me by my nickname.

"Bye guys!" I say.

Then we go our separate ways. I didn't have much to do today so I decide to have a chill day. I go home and change into a thin sweater and leggings. We didn't have too much clothing and a lot of the stuff we got was thin so we usually wore a lot of the same stuff or just layers of clothes when it was cold. I sit in my bed and get out my homework. As much as I hated homework, I really wish I had more because I needed time to go by faster. But sadly, my homework took only an hour. We have no electronics either so it's not like I had a phone or tablet or laptop to go on. They took all electronics away from us to make sure we don't talk to any guys. That's how serious they were about separating us. I take out a book to read.

By the time I felt my eyes getting tired I saw that it was dark. I look at the time but it was only 8:30. I decide to go onto the roof a little. Since the stars were already out, I could go stargazing a little since I loved doing that when I was bored. I look at the stars then look across the gate where the guys section was. Surprisingly, I've never seen a guy in all of the times I've been on the roof. It was weird. This time though, something really caught my eye. There was a figure on top of a roof closest to the gate.
