He looks to be around my age but it was kind of hard to tell because of the distance. He has curly light hair but what really stood out was his eyes. Even though it was really dark, the light of the moon causes his eyes to really sparkle and I could see them from so far away. They were a beautiful hazel color. He noticed me and gave me a small wave. I wave back and he smiles. I smile too. Then he holds up one figure signaling that he'll be right back. I nod my head to show I understood. He leaves the rooftop then comes back a couple minutes later with a huge white poster. He puts it down and writes something on it then holds it up for me to see.

It says:
Do you have a big piece of paper?
In big, bold writing.

I nod my head and I hold a finger up to say I'll be right back. He nods his head. I go down and grab a couple of the huge poster papers we had gotten for projects then go back up. I notice that he had more papers too now so he had probably gone down while I was down.

He smiles when he sees me and writes:
Hey

I wrote on my paper:
Hi

He sees and writes on his paper:
What's your name?

I write on my paper:

Destiny Mires, what's yours?

He writes on his paper:
I like that name. I'm Shawn Mendes.

I smile and write:
Yours isn't too bad either.

I see him chuckle and he writes:
I haven't seen or talked to a girl in so long.

I write:
I haven't seen or talked to a guy in so long.

And the conversation continued. We talked for so long and I was so much happier. I didn't feel bored or dead on the inside for the first time in 8 years. He was like a friend I've known forever. Of course I love Mia and Nessa, they're my best friends, but talking to Shawn was just different. Even though I couldn't even hear his voice, I felt like I could. When I read the things he wrote I read them in this voice that I've never heard but it's what I expect his voice would sound like. I check my watch when my eyes were starting to get really tired and I see that I've been talking to him for 4 hours and it was already 11:30. I have to go to bed so I could be awake for school the next day.

As much as I didn't want to, I had to say goodnight to Shawn and sleep so I write on the paper:
I have to sleep it's already 11:30 and I have school tomorrow. Don't you have school too?

He looks down at his watch and looks surprised then writes:
Shoot yeah. I have to sleep too. I'll talk to you tomorrow at the same time maybe?

I smile and write:
Fine with me.

He smiles and writes:
Perfect! I'll talk to you tomorrow Destiny.

I write:
Talk to you tomorrow Shawn.

Then I wave and go down. I brush my teeth and face then lie down in my bed. I was about to sleep when I heard a knock on the door.

"Open the door," I heard an unfamiliar female voice say.
