Luke:
The next day I hopped out of my car and started towards the school. I was late so only a few other late people were running into the building. I should have been running too but I wanted to enjoy the fresh air while I could. Just then I noticed a girl walking by herself to the school. She was walking super slowly and swinging her bag around as she walked. She looked familiar. I stared at her trying to tell where I had seen her before. She was a bit younger than me but she still looked so familiar. Some other girl who was waiting for her ran up to her and started dragging her towards the school while talking to her. They were obviously sisters. The one dragging the other one almost crashed into me but I jumped away.
“Oh. sorry,” she said, stopping. Her sister stopped too and turned to face me.
“Why were you staring at us?” she asked bluntly.
“I...uh...”
“Forget it,” the other one said. She grabbed her sister’s arm again and they walked inside the school. I walked after them and got there in time to hold the door open for them. I realized now that they were both twins. One had long hair and one had short hair but other than that they looked exactly the same.
“So you guys go to school here?” I asked as they started down the hall. My class was down the other hall but I didn't care.
“No, we just randomly decided to walk in here,” said the one who had asked why I had been staring.
“Yes, we do,” the one with long hair said, elbowing her sister and effectively cutting her off. I mentally hit myself in the head. That was a dumb question.
“Okay. Well, my class is back there,” I started walking backwards and they both looked at me like I was crazy. Then I crashed into some poor freshmen and he looked terrified of me. By the time I was done apologizing and he was scurrying away, the two girls were gone.
I rushed into my first class ten minutes later and the teacher tsked at me. The other kids smirked and I quickly made my way to my seat.
As I sat down, I saw with surprise that Jasper was in my class. He was sitting across the room from me. It was hard to see him at first, though. He almost blended into the classroom walls. He glanced in my direction and I quickly looked away. The whole class, I kept looking over at him, only to catch him staring at me intently. It was rather unnerving. After class, as we got up, I tried to leave quickly, but Jasper caught up to me as I left.
“Hey Luke,” he said casually, but he leaned against the wall in a way so that he was blocking my way.
“Hey,” I said, ducking under his arm. I ended up crashing right into his arm, though.
“I have something to tell you. It’s really important,” Jasper said, suddenly sounding urgent.
“What?” I asked rudely, giving him a hard look.
“Hasn’t anyone ever taught you manners?” Jasper asked me incredulously. I rolled my eyes.
“No, actually. Now will you please go on, sir,” I said sarcastically. Jasper tried to laugh, but it was obviously fake. I rolled my eyes again.
“Well, you know how I mentioned sisters yesterday?” he asked, looking worried.
“Yeah, umm...what about that?” I said, trying not to sound too interested, when actually, I started to feel like a little boy about to open his presents on Christmas.
