His physics class felt shorter than usual. Maybe because he was too busy comparing himself to Xander.

Get a grip Seth, no one's better than anyone here.

Even though he knew he was telling himself lies through and through. Seth's lecturer had dismissed them and Duncan nudged him.

"What happened to your head?"

Did he really want to reveal the story about falling off his seat as a result of being intimidated by another guy and face embarrassment? No thanks.

"Just had an accident."

"Damn, be careful next time," he gave him a pat on the shoulder that lasted a bit longer than it should have, "What?" Duncan asked.

"You're still holding onto me," Seth eyed his hand.

Seth hated physical contact. If it wasn't necessary, he didn't want to have to partake in it.

"Sorry man."

He could've sworn he saw slight disappointment in Duncan's face but he didn't care he just wanted to get out of this class. He took up his bag and headed out with Duncan falling in step.

"You free for the rest of the day?"

"Yeah," Seth clipped hoping to end the conversation.

"Grab lunch now?"

Why the hell not? He knew Duncan would pay even if he offered to.

"Yeah sure."

}{

Seth and Duncan had met in their first physics lecture where Duncan came to class without any books or writing instruments because he simply thought they would only settle in on the first day. Little did he know that Mr. Wilmot was a literal workaholic and he ended up taking one of Seth's pages from his book and a pen while they shared a textbook.

"What do you want?" Duncan asked as they neared the cashier in the line.

"Iced coffee, straight black and a ham sandwich."

"Got it, go find a seat."

Seth walked out of the line and sat down at a table for two in the corner, he took the seat with his back to the wall so he could get a view of the cafe in its entirety. It was a chill place, he'd come here countless nights, for finishing assignments and studying that needed coffee to go along with them.

As he scanned faces until his eyes landed on one particular person, Xander. He sat at a high table in the center of the cafe with his laptop in front of him, typing away while he sipped on something steaming from a cup. He was fucking studious too.

His vision was obstructed by Duncan who walked forward with two trays. Seth helped him halfway by taking his tray.

"Thanks, I appreciate it."

"No problem, gotta feed the team," Duncan raised his bottle of orange juice and took a sip.

Duncan was on the track team as well, he wasn't faster than Seth but he was fast enough to be well known and admired.

Seth delved into his sandwich and he found himself looking past Duncan's head and to the guy that made him feel inferior.

"When are you getting that thing off your face? It hurts me to see you like that," he chuckled.

Seth smiled at his attempt to start conversation but he was hoping that he wouldn't bring it up. He didn't want to be reminded of his self consciousness that caused the situation nor did he want to remember the person who was involved in it.

"Should be going back to the hospital by Saturday."

"Nice, want me to come with? I can finally see what the med students go through."

Med students. Xander.

He looked past Duncan's head to Xander who was staring right at him. What the hell? Xander smiled and got down from his seat.

He turned his attention back to Duncan, "Nah its cool."

"Why not? You really want to go by yourself?" he inquired.

Where the hell did he go? His eyes roamed the cafe again, his laptop and drink were still at the table, where was he? A figure stepped to their table and Seth looked up.

"Cause he's heading there with me."

A look of confusion crossed Duncan's face, "You know this guy Seth?"

"Yeah, Duncan this is Xander, Xander this is Duncan."

Xander nodded curtly and Duncan sat there looking confused as ever.

"I just remembered, I need to talk to you about something before you head out Seth," Xander said before heading back to his table.

"Where do you know the swimming dude from?" Duncan asked.

"Swimming dude? He was there when I uh, had the accident," Seth cleared his throat and took a sip of his coffee.

"Yeah, he's an international swimmer, he qualified for Olympics last year but didn't even go, heard some issues with his family."

No wonder he looked like the fit of the fittest.

"You done? Let's head to my place and call over the guys."

"Nah, I wanna get some studying done here, you can go on ahead."

Seth just wanted him to leave so he could find out what Xander wanted to say.

"Alright, doors always open man."

Duncan stood and took his bag and tray to the bin the he was out the door. In that same moment, Xander filled the spot, placing his laptop on the table and bag beside him.

"Seth," he smiled at him.

"What was that about?"

"I like you."

Seth choked on the air he was breathing when the words registered.

"Dude, w-what the fuck are you saying?" his eyes were as wide as saucers, "I'm not gay."

"I didn't ask you about your sexuality Seth, I only made a statement," he smirked.

He made Seth feel small even when he was confessing.

Seth cleared his throat, "So what was that about going to the hospital with me?"

"Right, that's the hospital where Norwood makes us do our residency, so I figured why not go with you and get some rounds done at the same time."

"Not necessary," Seth interjected.

"Or I could just do it for you."

That fucking smile. It was taunting him.

"Will you stop smiling at me like that, it's creepy man."

"Xander," his eyes darkened, "Don't address me like how you do with your little friend, you either call me by my name or by my nickname."

"What's your nickname?"

Xander leaned across the table and whispered into his ear, "Daddy."

Seth's head was spinning. This guy was crazy, there was no way he liked dick.

"I gotta go, I have a class."

"No," this made Seth look at him in confusion, "I heard you talking to blondie, he invited you over which meant you had no classes for the rest of the day."

He wanted to get the hell out of here. He needed air.

"You also need my number," Xander added placing a piece of paper in his hands.

Before Xander could utter another word, Seth picked up his bag, shoving the paper in his pocket and walked out of the cafe at full speed leaving his unfinished food behind.
