Seth grabbed his bag and walked out of the apartment with Xander hot on his heels.
"Seth, wait up."
"Don't say anything, let's just go to school," he held his head down.
"Fine," Xander raised his hands in surrender.
They sat in Alexander's car driving in silence until Seth reached forward and turned on the radio. It immediately blared some upbeat song in a language close to English that he couldn't understand.
"What is this stuff?" Seth asked.
"It's soca, Caribbean music, quite popular."
"I kinda like it," Seth said rocking from side to side.
Alexander threw back his head laughing after catching a glimpse of Seth's ridiculous attempt to dance.
"Not even close to how you dance to it," Xander said focusing on driving.
Within minutes they arrived on campus and he switched off the engine, grabbing a duffel bag from the back seat.
"What's that for?" Seth asked.
"I have swim training today, text me when you get out of class."
Seth nodded remembering the piece of paper he had placed in the front of his backpack for safe keeping. He gave a shy wave, which hadn't been reciprocated and walked to class with a slight frown on his face.
}{
Seth left his Italian class feeling like his brain was on fucking fire. He didn't think he could absorb anymore information for the day. He made his way across the campus to get to physics class where he would have to face Duncan.
His mind then drifted off to Alexander who he imagined at the swimming pool doing countless laps, and water dipping off his body while he looked like some sex god. Any guy on that swim team who was rooting for the other side sure would be having a hard time focusing on training. Then he felt a pang of jealousy in his chest, all those guys who got to see him shirtless and wet while he had to be completing 50 equations and debate about gamma rays.
"Hey Seth!" he heard someone shout.
Seth scanned the grounds until his eyes landed on Duncan jogging towards him.
Shit.
"I've been calling your phone all day man, where've you been?" he asked letting out a breath.
"Been catching some shut eye, last night was tiring."
"I bet it was, you got her number?" Duncan smirked and nudged him.
"Nah, just a one time thing."
Seth wanted this conversation to be over. He knew Duncan wanted to ask more questions and pry but he wasn't going to give him the chance to. Thankfully they arrived as soon as the lecturer had stepped into the room and the class began right on time.
}{
Seth checked his watch and there were six minutes left until the end of class. He grabbed his phone as well as the piece of paper from his bag and saved Xander's number. He was ready to get out of here and get home.
"I thought you said you didn't get her number?"
Seth looked over to Duncan, "I didn't, this is just a friend."
"Another one Seth, you've been going at them," he reached over to dap him on the back.
Seth gave him a lopsided smile and turned back to his phone still feeling Duncan's hand lingering on his shoulder.
Finished class.
What time is training finished?
-Delivered at 6:35 p.m.
Seth turned off his phone and waited anxiously for the lecturer to close.
"So you're not gonna tell me who that is?" Duncan leaned over and whispered in his ear.
"As I said, just one of my friends."
"You always want to go home after class, you never ask anyone what they're up to," he squinted his eyes, "I'm starting to think this is more than just a friend."
"That's a you problem man."
As if on cue, their lecturer has finished the session and dismissed them. Seth's phone vibrated on the table in front of him signalling a message.
Come to the swimming pool.
I think I'll need another 30 minutes.
-Read at 6:42 p.m.
Seth grabbed his bag and stood up, ready to dash to the swimming pool until Duncan had grabbed a hold of his bag slowing him down.
"Why the rush?" Duncan fell into step with him.
"I just have to meet a friend, I'll see you at training tomorrow," he said quickly.
A look of disappointment flashed across Duncan's face, "Yeah, of course," he gave a tight smile.
Seth didn't ponder on it too long and walked at the pace that his heart was beating, rapid. He had gotten invited to watch Alexander train, he would get to see him excel in his sport. He felt special.
Norwood's pool was Olympic sized which explained why their athletes were one of the best, they had all the resources they needed. Seth walked in to hear the frantic splashing of water, a whistle blowing and shouting.
"Come on Vargas, I need you beating that personal best!" shouted a man who Seth assumed was the coach.
He walked carefully trying to avoid puddles of water and sat on a bench far enough to keep him from getting splashed.
"Young man, who are you and why the hell do you think you can take presence in my training session?" the man growled with an accent.
Seth looked up and he was a tall, slim, dark Indian man with slight wisps of grey in his beard giving away his lack of youth.
"I'm here for Alexander," he said.
"Vargas!" he shouted, "Out now," he blew his whistle loudly making Seth flinch.
Seth's eyes were now glued to the sight before him. Xander pulled himself out of the pool, muscles flexing and water dripping down his entire sun-kissed body. He lifted one leg after the other and walked towards them pushing the dampened hair out of his face. Seth's face burned when he took in the full sight of Xander.
Dear God, he was wearing Speedos.
