(this whole book is set in Dan's POV)

We were sat on the sofa together.

The TV wasn't on.

There was no music playing.

Just us enjoying each other's company.

Snuggling into his chest, I closed my eyes and smiled.

Then I felt two fingers on my chin lifting my head to his, before our lips interlocked.

It was like fireworks exploded around us. You'd think it'd get old, but every time Phil kissed me I still felt butterflies in my stomach.

It was nice.

His lips tasted sweet.

Breaking away from the kiss, Phil stared into my eyes, and I felt a rush down my spine as his intense blue eyes scanned my face.

"You're so pretty, Dan." He said, brushing a curl behind my ear.

I shook my head, putting my hands to my face to cover the warmth that spread across my red cheeks.

Phil noticed my sleeves had ridden down, and pulled me back towards him for a hug.

"I'm so proud of you." He spoke into my hair, "You've been clean for so long."

I didn't say anything, just buried my face deeper into his chest, breathing in his scent.

"Don't leave me, Dan." He said it softly, and I heard his voice wobble.

It still hurt him to think of what I'd tried to do. How unhappy I'd been.

But it wasn't like that anymore.

I didn't need my medication. I was happy without them.

It had taken three years, but I was content.

I had Phil.

"I won't leave you. Not again."

But neither of us had thought that it would be Phil leaving me.
