I closed the door, throwing my keys on the counter, and taking my coat off my shoulders.
It was getting more and more difficult to see Phil.
My cheeks were still tear stained and my hair was a mess.
But it was fine.
I needed to see Phil, even if he couldn't talk to me.
As I was walking to my bedroom, I heard a sniffling coming from Emma's room.
Stopping next to it, I pressed my ear up to the door, waiting for the sound again.
There it was!
It sounded like Emma was... crying.
My heart twisted in my chest.
She couldn't be sad.
You've made her like this.
No I haven't what have I done?
It isn't my fault.
Is it?
I slowly opened the door, my eyes instantly setting upon a figure curled up on the middle of the floor with their hands in their hair.
"Emma? What's wrong?" I moved to her side, gently removing her hands from her hair and bringing her body towards mine in a hug.
I smoothed my hand along her back as Phil once did to me.
I remembered it was comforting.
She didn't say anything, of course, she just sat there and cried into my shirt.
I didn't mind.
I just soothed her until her sobs became less frequent, and her body stopped shaking.
Lifting her face up, I saw her eyes were red and puffy. Tears still slipped down her face, and her eyes glistened with them.
How the hell was she still so beautiful when she was crying?
My face inches towards hers, and I was sure something was going to happen, but then she moved away from me.
I stared at her in shock and confusion.
"Wha-wha..."
Dan, I'm not into you like that.
You idiot.
