I blink a few times and sit up. I look out a window, everything is dark and the deserted streets are lit by dim, magical, lampposts. There's a piece of paper on the table next to the bed.
don't know if the doctors will find this before you do but if you do find it, hi. sorry we're not there right now but you can only stay so long until the doctors "politely" ask you to leave.
-CallumI put the note back down and look at the clock. Seven thirty.
That's not right. I look outside again, this time the sun is up and the streets are full of people. I look back and the room around me changed. This time, I'm sitting on a park bench, a girl next to me cries and the girl besides her comforts her.
It changes again.
I stand in the middle of a dense forest. A girl runs past me, gasping for breath. Two loud gunshots ring in my ears.
I look around again. I'm on a roof. A girl stands in front of me on the edge.
"No!" The words come out of my mouth but it's not my voice. The girl looks over her shoulder at me. Before I think, I'm running. It doesn't feel like I'm the one who's actually running, it feels like I'm seeing through someone's eyes as they run.A new world appears. This time, I'm already running. I look back and grab a small girl's hand. She screams something but I can't hear what she says. I turn around and realize what she's screaming about. I try to stop but I'm not in control so I keep running.
My cheeks are wet, I stand in the kitchen of a house. In my hand is a dark purple dagger that's covered in blood.
I sit on a bathroom floor. I stand up and look in the mirror. A familiar face stares back, but it's not mine. Her cheeks are red and covered in tears. She studies herself, pinching at her arms, cheeks and waist. She puts her thumb and her pointer finger around her arm and smiles a little when they touch.
I'm in a different bathroom, on the floor again. My arms sting and I feel almost lifeless. I get up and run a washcloth under the tap, then run it gently along my arm. I try not to look in the mirror, hoping I won't see who it is but I end up doing it anyways. I look at her for a while, longer than I want until she finally looks away.
I can't see anything, just darkness. A girl in front of my leans against the door crying. She disappears and another girl appears doing the same thing.
"Let her out!" A voice shouts, "Let her out! Let her out! Let her-" It's interrupted by a scream.I stare at a newspaper. My phone is blowing up with texts next to me. I look at the messages, I already know who I'm "in" right now. I turn of my phone and look at the newspaper again. It's the last page in our small town's newspaper, the bottom section where it talks about disappearances and murders. I stare at one name and read it, over, and over, and over again until I have every single letter memorized.

I walk down the empty halls and into another room.
"Hey." I say
"Hey." Scott says, "You know you're not supposed to be in here, right?"
"Yeah, but someone said you were awake." I say, "Plus, I need to ask you, before you woke up, did you past read?"
"What's that?" He asks
"It's how some people gain the ability to mind read." I say, "When they're unconscious, they past read and when they wake up, they can read minds."
"Past reading is seeing into someone's memories and experiencing them." I explain, "Mostly with family or friends."
"Yeah." He says, "It was weird."
"That's expected." I say, "So... who and what did you see?"
"The first two, I'm not sure." He says, "But then I saw Alex and you, Rain and Ivy. The rest I'm not a hundred percent sure."
"Did you see Alex's memories or mine?" I ask
"Alex's." He says, "And... maybe yours."
"So do you know..." He looks confused for a second.
"Oh... yeah." He says
"Then I guess we're even." I say, "I read your mind you saw what happened."
"I also think I saw Violet, Eli, maybe Ivory and Skye." He says, "Oh, and I saw Callum."
"So you know that Violet-"
"Killed someone." He finishes
"You know about Ivy, you know about Rain, you know what happened to Skye, Eli and Ivory."
"And Alex." He says, "And Luna, Stella and Ryan."
"Ash?"
"Maybe." He says, "I was in a forest and there was gun-"
"Yup, that's Ash." I say, "Bolt?"
"Running and an explosion?" He asks
"Yeah, that's Bolt." I say. I lean back in the chair.
"So you saw what happened to everyone?" I ask eventually.
"Yeah." He says.
"Someone's coming." I say, "See you tomorrow or something." I turn invisible and walk out.[Trigger Warning]
I sit on the edge, toxic thoughts run through my head. I stand up and look over the edge. It's definitely high enough. I turn around and close my eyes. I take a small step back and make the mistake of opening my eyes. Alex looks at me from the stairs. I turn around and take the next step.
"No!" Her arms wrap around me as we fall. We stop falling. I open my eyes.
"God, you gave me a heart attack." She says, we land on the roof. She practically drags me downstairs and into our room. We sit on the bed and she wraps her arms around me.
"I'm sorry." I say quietly.
"Don't apologize." She says quietly. I close my eyes and fall asleep.
