-Callum-
"Boo." He jumps and playfully shoves me. I sit down next to him.
"What're you thinking about?" I ask
"I actually have no idea." He says
"Are you sure?" He nods.
"Did you tell Lauren that you're gay because I think she knows." I say
"No." He says, "She figures stuff out easily... sometimes."
"You guys are cute together."
"She said that?" He asks
"Did you just read my mind?" I ask
"No, your thoughts were screaming." He says
"Wha-"
"It's like when your at a cafe and the people next to you are talking loudly and you aren't interested in hearing their conversation but you do anyways." He says
"Oh, yeah, she did." I say.
"Ari!" An unfamiliar voice calls.
"I'm sorry." A soft voice says
"Let me out." A girl begs
"It's my fault!"
"Eli!" A ton of voices blend together, shouting over each other. They get louder and stop suddenly.
"It can also happen when your with someone you care about a lot."
"Callum?" Scott's voice plays in my head.
"Callum?" He asks at the same time.
"Sorry, what were you saying?" I ask
"Nothing." He says, "Your thoughts started screaming again but they weren't exactly your thoughts."
"What?" I ask confused.
"It's like you pass read while conscious." He says, "It that even possible?"
"It can also happen when your with someone you care about a lot or doing something that you really like."
"Yeah." I say, "It-"
"I know, I read your mind that time." He says
"A little nosey are we?" I joke
"Only a little." He says jokingly.
"So can you read minds now?"
"Yeah, I guess so." I say, "Why are we sitting on the roof exactly?"
"I don't know." He says. We sit quietly for a minute, watching the sun set. He takes his hands out of his lap, putting them down next to him. His right hand bumps mine."Morning." Shelby yawns. She pours herself a small cup of coffee.
"Morning." I say
"Sleep well?" She asks
"Kinda." I say
"That's me on a daily basis." She jokes
"Morning." Lauren says. She pours herself some coffee and stands next to Shelby.
"We doing anything today?" She asks
"I don't think so." Shelby says, "But knowing us, something will go terribly wrong and someone will almost die or something."
"Probably." I joke. Scott walks out.
"Can I talk to you for a second?" I ask. He walks back into the room.
"One second." I get up.
"Oooooohh." Lauren teases
"You're actually five." I joke
"And you're three." She says
"You're not wrong." I say. I walk into the room, closing the door behind me.
"Are we gonna talk about what happened last night?" I ask
"What happened last night?" He asks
"You know what happened." I say
"Yeah, I do." He says, "And I get it you're not into guys like that but-"
"That's not what I was gonna say." I say
"What were you gonna say then?" He asks
"I was gonna say you're funny and amazing and everything but I need a little bit." I say, "I need to figure out how I feel first."
"Ok." He says, "I just- Sorry, about "it." I really like you but I don't expect you to feel the same way."-Lizzie-
"Is it snowing?" I ask
"Yeah, that's kinda normal here." Joel says, "It's believed that the god Nix, god of snow or something and whenever they cry it snows or something."
"Wha-"
"I don't know, we abandoned logic when we got wings." He says. My phone rings.
"Hey Alex." I say, "What's up?"
"I need just... someone." They say, "I don't wanna call Rain, Ash, Skye or someone like that."
"What happened?" I ask
"Ari... I just..."
"Ok, where are you?" I ask
"The hospital wing." They say
"Do you want me to bring friends or what?" I ask
"You can bring some of your close friends but none of mine right now." They say
"Ok, we'll be right there." I say. I hang up.
"What's that about?" Joel asks
"Alex." I say, "They sound upset, we need to go meet them in the hospital wing."[Possible Trigger Warning]
We walk into the hospital wing.
"Lizzie." Alex rushes over to me and hugs me, they cry into my shoulder.
"What happened?" I ask
"I came home and-" Their voice breaks
"Ok, calm down." I say. They take a couple deep breaths.
"Ari struggles." They say, "She's tried to kill herself before and she tried again." They curl up into a ball and put their face in their knees. Lauren and Yammy walk in.
"What happened?" Yammy asks
"Ari." I say, "She-" One of the nurses walk out.
"Um, Tyler Helto." They say
"Alex." Alex says looking up, "And I don't think I'm a Helto anymore."
"Ok, Alex..."
"Just Alex." They say, "So what's up with Ari?" They walk over to the other side of the room.
"What's happening?" Scott asks making Yammy and me both jump.
"When did you get here?" Lauren asks
"Like, five seconds ago." He says, "So what's happening."
"We're waiting to hear what's going on." I say
"About who and why are we here in the first place?" He asks
"Ari." I say, "She tried to kill herself."
"Oh." We watch Alex talk to the nurse, waiting for their facial expression change. They look at us, then walk out.
"Should we follow them?" Lauren asks
"Let's give them a couple minutes." I say. Rain, Ash and Skye walk in.
"Alex is crying." Skye says, "Alex never cries, what happened to Ari?"
"She-"
"You don't have to say it, I just read your mind." Skye says
"Alex is crying, what happened to Ari?" Ivory asks walking in.
"Is that how you automatically know something happened to Ari?" Scott asks, "Alex starts crying."
"Yeah, pretty much." Rain says. Alex walks back in. They look at Ash, Rain, Skye and Ivory.
"You guys are here." They say
"Yeah, we are." Ash says, "And we know you didn't want us to be and Lizzie didn't call us."
"It's not like I didn't want you guys here." She says, "I just-"
"You don't have to make excuses to justify your actions." Rain says, "When I... Ash didn't call you all immediately."
"Yeah, now we're even." Ash says. Alex smiles weakly.
"Ok, let's go." Skye takes their hand and pulls them towards the door.
"Wait, were are we going?" Alex asks
"Anywhere but here." Skye says, "I know you're upset right now but if you stay here you'll be more upset. Ash and Rain will call us if anything happens."
"Fine." They say. Skye jumps on their back and rides out.
