The Alpha's Mate

Chapter 26

    

Cashton's POV:

     It took two months to finally get my mate to go out to dinner with me. With her looking after the baby and taking her Luna duties very seriously- which I can't be more proud of- she turned me down every time.

     Fortunately, this time I gave her no choice. I helped with the baby and her duties, I got Rebecca and Amanda to watch the baby, and tonight I was gonna finally propose to her. I had finally worked up the guts.

     "Let's go babe." I said excitedly.

     And after naming about 50 more things to do, she finally took a breath and we were off.

     When we got into the car, I turned it in the complete opposite direction from the city.

     "What are you doing? I thought we were going out for dinner."

     "You'll see."

     And with that she sat back and just looked at the scenery. About 2 hours later I finally came upon the driveway to the cabin.

     "We're here."

     We got out and I grabbed her hand, pulling her into the cabin's dining room. I sat her down and uncovered our dishes which consisted of steak, green beans, mashed potatoes, and greens.

     When she saw the food, Katie smiled in delight and we both dug in. While eating, we talked about what we do during the days when we are not together. Thirty minutes later, I grabbed her hand and just started walking up the beach.

     About ten minutes into our walk, she grabbed my arm and slid off her heels, letting the straps dangle in her fingers. The closer we got to the little dessert picnic I had set up, the more anxious I became. My idea was to just to play it cool, but my mate saw right through me.

     "What's eatin at ya?"

     "Oh, nothin, just thinking about how you are definitely worth all the cramming I'm gonna have to do tomorrow." I lied smoothly.

     She smile and slid her arms around my waist, in which I didn't reject, in fact I just pulled her even closer. If that was even possible.

     When we got to the setup, I got to see the joy in my mates eyes as they lit up. As we got closer, she realized that all the candles I used weren't just placed randomly. I hung back as she slowly read the message and as soon as she turned to face my, I was already down on one knee.

     "Katie, as soon as I found out you were my mate, I was overjoyed. In that moment you were the most important thing in my life and you made me the haopiest man in the world. My life only got better when Dexter came along and my life only continues to get better everyday you are there with me. So, Katie, will you make me truly the most happiest man in the world and marry me?"

     And, with tears rolling down her cheeks came the one word that completed me.

     "Yes!!"
