The Alpha's Mate

Chapter 12

     Cashton's POV:

     That night my dreams were filled with Katie Anderson.  I was the most happiest man on earth.  Well, I would be way happier when I marked her as my own and she moved in with me. Although, I was surprised by her reaction when I told her about me being a werewolf.

     Instead of running and screaming from me scared she just calmly asked me if she was my mate. That girl. She shre is one of a kind.

     The next day was Sunday,  and as usual I went to my mother's house for the weekly family brunch.  At the table, I announced that I found my mate and told them that she knows about us and they all looked at me before smiling and congratulating me. Except for my mother.  She started screaming and jumping up and down saying how great it would be to have grandchildren.

     It took my dad ten minutes to calm her down. And when that was done, we all sat back and talked. My mother asking me to describe my mate and how school was going. And my dad was asking how pack business was and what we were going to do about the rogues.  I gave them answers as truthfully as I could and then excused myself saying I had to get back to work.

     I mindlinked my beta and gamma, telling them to get to the office in the pack house and I headed over myself.  But not before getting food to have latwr if I was hungry. 

     In the office, we caught up on school work. We like to work together,  so that way we have a better chance of passing and then we got down to business.

      We were about teo hours into the meeting when all of a sudden a pack member burst throught the door. "What is it?" Annoyed that we had been interrupted.  "Sorry Alpha but I have some bad news" The trembling man said and didn't continue.

     "Well, go on, we don't have all day." I huffed out.

     "Alpha, another pack member was found dead at the border of the territory." At those words,  everyone was completely quiet for about ten seconds before rushing out to the scene.

     When we got to the West side of the territory,  I saw one of my best soldiers lying dead with a hole in his chest. "Alpha, there was a not addresed to you pinned on his shirt." Another soldier said before passing the paper to me. It read....

     See how easy it is to get even one of your best soldiers. Just imagine the easiness of being able to get to your mate. Who is human, weak,  and all alone. Wouldn't be that hard. So hold her tight while you can. Because soon she is going to be just as dead as this one is.

     I balled up the paper before passing it to Ian and going for a run. As soon as I got into the trees, I started heading over to Kate's house to make sure she was alright. I mindlinked Aaron telling him to set up a guarding schedule for Katie.

     When I got to her house, I saw that her grandma was gone and she was in the living room watching TV. I shifted and put on a change of clothes that was by a tree before walking up her steps and knocking on the door.  I heard the TV being paused and heard her footsteps draw nearer.  When the door was opened she looked surprised to see me. I went into the house and pulled her to me kissing her hard for a few minutes before pulling away and ask if she would like to go out for a bite to eat.

     She looked a little confused but nodded yes before jogging up the stairs and coming down five minutes later with jean short shorts and a black crop top on paired with black sandals. And her hair in what the girls call a "messy bun". I smiled and told her hiw beautiful she looked and she blushed. We got outside and got into her car after I explained that I ran here in my wolf form. As we got into town, I told her to choose any restaurant she wanted because I wanted to buy. She thought about it pretty hard before pulling into a Chinese place.

     I wasn't complaining, I loved Chinese food.  As we ate, Aaron mindlinked me saying that the routines was set and that sbe would have two guards on her at all times. All mated at my request.

     At those words,  I breathed a sigh if relief before going back to my food and enjoying my mates company. Nobody is going to harm her. I will stop them or die trying.
