Jughead jumped back in surprise. He turned around and ran to the direction the shot came from.

He ran to Pops, walked in, and wish he never came there.

There was Mr. Andrews, laying on the ground in Archie's arms. Blood. Blood soaking his shirt. A gunshot wound. Jughead stood there, paralyzed, but soon Jughead ran over and tried to stop the blood. Pop was trying to call 911, and the two boys didn't know what they got themselves into.

There was a moment, when the two teenagers looked into each other's eyes. Fear was written all over their faces.

"Who did this?" Jughead questioned.

"I don't know. A guy in a black hood." Archie answered.

Sirens soon filled the air. They put Fred on a stretcher and took him to the hospital. Archie was able to go with them, Jughead left behind with Pop.

As he was cleaning up the blood, Jughead was able to ask some questions, "So, Pop," Jughead started, "What happened?" he started off basic, hearing his claims. Apparently, a tall, muscular man came in the diner, demanding Pop for money, holding a gun up to his head. Fred tried to interfere, but it ended up with him getting shot.

"Was any money taken?" Jughead finally asked.

"No, he left quickly after he shot Fred." Pop stated, "Jughead. Whatever you do. Don't get too caught up in this. Whatever happened in here, must've been a grudge against Fred. We don't need any other people getting hurt."

Jughead nodded and thanked Pop for the information. While walking to the hospital, he called Betty and told her everything. She said she could come.

Jughead finally walked through the hospital doors to see Archie talking to a doctor in the waiting room.

Archie's face had hope mixed with sadness. Then, his face flushed in complete sadness and anger. Jughead rushed over, seeing Archie's emotions.

Archie crashed into Jughead's arms, sobbing, "Jughead... he's. he' dead." Archie said.

Jughead froze, his eyes tearing up. He held Archie as he sobbed into his shoulder.

Archie and Jughead soon walked to Fp's trailer. "They told me they tried everything, Jug. Everything. But, he lost too much blood." Archie said.

Jughead sighed, "It's going to be okay. Just stay with me until your mom gets here. It's not an issue."

They stopped talking after that and walked home in silence. Jughead realized at the trailer that Betty never came to the hospital. Jughead looked at Archie. He was sleeping on the couch across from him. Jughead grabbed his phone and called Betty.

It rang through, no answer. He then texted her.

Hey Betty. You never showed up at the hospital, hope your okay. Call me when you can.

But what Jughead didn't know, is that Betty isn't okay. In fact, the worst thing she can imagine happened. After she figured out the news about Fred, she ran downstairs and put on her shoes, when someone knocked on the door. She quickly opened it to see her father.

"D-dad?" she stuttered.

"Can I come in?" he asked. He didn't look different. His same old normal self. Browish hair, blue eyes, same old look, the look of mischief.

"No you may not." Alice said from behind Betty.

Betty stepped aside to let her mom handle this situation. Her fingernails going deeper and deeper into her skin. Something her father taught her. She got his darkness.

Her father eventually left. He wanted to see his "favorite girls." After his visit, Betty didn't feel like talking to anyone. She forgot about Fred and went to bed, to clear her mind and to start a new day...
