Zack's POV

She was supposed to be here two hours ago. I'm really worried. I can't stop pacing. I've sent thirteen messages, called seventeen times, and left voicemails for over half of them. Did something happen to her? Was she in an accident? Did she get kidnapped? Abducted my aliens? Don't be ridiculous. She's probably just held up in traffic. It was 11:30 so I went to bed.

************************************

I woke up and looked at my clock, 7:45 a.m. Oh shit! Chloe! I ran out front to see if she had parked her car near by but it wasn't there. I ran back in and looked at my phone. One missed call and a text message.

Hi Zack. This is Chloe's mother. I'm afraid she's in the hospital. At Frick just a half hour away from where you live. I will give you more details when you come.

Oh shit. Chloe. I changed, not caring to shower, and started my way to the hospital.

************************************

I raced into the hospital to the front desk. "Can you tell me where Chloe Sanders' room is please?" The lady at the front desk told me the room and I didn't bother going in the elevator. She was on the third floor so the stairs would be faster. I got there. Running down the hall, I opened the door to her room, and tears filled my eyes. Her mother sat beside her bed, holding her hand and crying. Her dad had his arm around his wife, also crying. I just stood there, staring at her, laying in that bed. She looked so fragile, and beautiful. She had bruises and cuts, but she still looked beautiful. I walked over and they looked up at me.

"Zack...", Mrs Sanders said.

"What the hell happened?" I demanded.

"There was an accident." he said.

"A truck collided with her car. She has a broken arm, broken leg, and four broken ribs. Many cuts and bruises, and..." she trailed off.

"And what?!" I half yelled.

"She's in a coma." he said. They both started crying again.

"This can't be happening." I ran my hands through my hair and paced back and forth in the room. Why? Of all people, why Chloe? The love of my life might die!

"What are the chances of her waking up?"

"Very low." he said.

"Shit...this can't be happening. She can't go through this! Not her!"

"Zack calm down. Just take a seat." She said. I grabbed a chair and pulled it to her bedside. I held her hand, looking at her beautiful face. I love her so much. What am I going to do if she...doesn't make it? Don't think like that. She's going to survive this, she will fight. I know she will. I don't need to worry. Just have faith in her. I stared at her for what felt like hours, and it turned out to be exactly that. Her parents had cots, they said they weren't leaving. I told them I wouldn't either, and they got me one too. The problem is, I didn't sleep at all. I just lay in my bed. making sure nothing happened to her all night.

I got up at about seven that morning. I was so tired, but I don't care. I went to get some water. When I came back, her parents were up.

"We are going to go to the car to get some changes of clothes. Then freshen up. Can you stay with her until we get back?" he asked.

"Of coarse. Anything for you guys."

"Thank you Zack." she hugged me and left the room. Just me and the dad. This is gonna get awkward, real fast.

"Your a good kid. You know that?"

"Thanks. I'd do anything for her. She's a wonderful girl."

"I'm real sorry about roughing you up. I'm okay with you being with her."

"Thank you sir." He shook my hand and left the room. I drank some of my water and sat down on my bed. I moved it close to her bed. Just about five feet away form her, so I would see her when I fall asleep and when I wake up. My stomach growled. I sure am hungry. But I can't leave her. I can wait. I sat down on my bed once again and watched her in that deep sleep.

Chloe's POV

I'm hearing things. It sounds like people talking. The voices are muffled by I can understand some of it. They sound like my parents and Zack. All I heard was,"Very low." and "I'm okay with you being with her." Are those good things? God, I hope so. I'm still in the whiteness. I haven't seen anything or anybody. I'm getting  scared of this place. I need to leave.

"Hello?  Is anybody here? Please, I need help!" No response. Ugh. I'm going to be here for a while aren't I? I sure am tired, Is there a bed or something around here? Suddenly , a bed appeared.

"Thanks?" I don't know what's going on with this place, but I think I will be happy here until I die. I know I won't make it. What's the use in fighting it? I don't know how, so I might as well enjoy my time here.

Zack's POV

I've noticed that sometimes, Chloe has expressions on her face. At first, she looked frightened, then she started smiling every so often. Is that normal? I'm afraid that if I tell the doctor, she will be diagnosed with something worse, so I say nothing. Everyday, I sit there beside her and watch her. Its the only thing I can do to stay calm. I haven't showered or changed in a few days. I don't want to leave her but I need to stay clean. I decide it will be really quick.

"Um hey. I'm going to go home and freshen up. You guys will be here with her right?"

"Yes. Some of her friends are coming to visit today. They will be here soon. You go freshen up."

"Thank you." I left and went home, got a shower and brought a duffle bag full of clothes and my body wash and shampoo. I will just start showering there. They have a cafeteria so I will eat there. I will be here for a while. I got in the car and started my drive back. I need to get there fast. Something could have happened while I was gone.

************************************

I got to hospital and once again ran to her room. It was filled with people now, her friends. I learned all there names, Jamie, Natalie, Annalisa, and Caitlyn. Jamie seemed closest to her. She was laying beside her in the bed, holding her hand to her face, and crying very hard and loudly. I sat down on my bed and looked at them, all crying and staring at her helpless body. Caitlyn looked over at me. "What happened to her?" she asked. The rest of them looked at me.

"A truck collided with her car, she's got bruises, cuts, a broken leg and arm, and some broken ribs and you probably already know she's in a coma..." I trailed off. They all started to cry again. I put my face in my hands. Jamie was crying really loud now. She eventually fell asleep beside Chloe. The girls were going to be staying for about a week. They were getting a separate room because there was no room in this one, but Jamie refused to leave. She wouldn't leave Chloe's bed. When she fell asleep I carried her to her own cot. So much has been going on, we all went to bed early.
