I run through the crowd, attacking those closest to me and removing the hands of the Galra who reach for Lance. Lance shoots every Galra he can, except for me. When we reach the front of the crowd, I fling Lance to his friends with my backpack and personal belongings.
"Lance!" the paladin in yellow yells as he catches Lance.
"Hey buddy! It's good to see you!" Lance grins happily.
"Allura, we got Lance. We are leaving," the black paladin yells over the noise into what I assume was his comm unit.
"Wait! Keith! Come on! Let's go!" Lance yells, reaching for me.
I smile before unsheathing my dagger and cutting the hand off another Galra, "Go Lance, I'll buy you some time!" I attack another Galra and spare a glance back, "Take care of him paladins. He's a keeper."
Lance cries out for me and I want to rush over to him and tell him I was joking, but I know better. I look out of the corner of my eye to see the paladins dragging Lance to the Galra ship they must've stole or are stealing and Lance fighting them. I smile. It's sweet that Lance thought so highly of me. I turn back to the fight at hand. I have to buy them as much time as possible, which wouldn't be a problem normally since my abilities surpass most of the Galra here, but there a lot of them - more than even I can handle - and some superiors are here who my abilities only equal or are inferior to so I won't be able to buy them much time, only enough.
I ignore the paladins and focus on my battle. I brandish my dagger and snarl threateningly at the rest of the Galra, waiting for one of them to make the first move. A lower ability soldier doesn't accept the insult and rushes towards me. Big mistake. I easily avoid his swings at me, getting closer to his back. When I duck under an arm coming for my head, I am behind him, put my dagger to his throat and you know. He falls to the ground, not quite dead yet, but in need of medical attention. Other Galra start shooting at me, which I avoid, and I charge at them, using my dagger to swipe at their weapons, disabling them. Other Galra start shooting me and attacking me, seeing me as a threat now. I dodge what I can but there are too many and I am receiving minor injuries which are causing me pain and too tire quicker so now I'm receiving more major injuries and I can't do this for much longer alone.
"Quiznak," I mutter under my breath, fall to one knee and wait for the finishing blow.
A blaster sounds and a Galra that was about to stab me goes down, a hole through his chest.
"Keith!" The familiar voice of Lance yells.
Suddenly, all the Galra's attention turns to something I can't see and they start to charge it. It's a few ticks before I can muster up the strength to move. My head turns and I see Lance in the doorway of the ship with his gun? shooting any Galra that tries to approach me or the paladins but mainly me. His friends fighting their way through the Galra, towards me? Me of all people? I can't keep the grin off my face and force myself to my feet through the pain. I stumble slightly, catching myself so I don't fall, but notice the concerned look Lance shoots me. I give him a reassuring smile and pick up my dagger. I limp towards the paladins, only attacking weaker opponents who turn their attention to me. I let the paladins do most of the fighting now, considering I took out a large amount of the Galra here.
When they finally reach me, my strength fails me as my adrenaline fades and I fall. Rather than hitting the metal floor, two strong, warm arms catch me and adjust me so they can pick me up bridal style. I hear people talking in the background but it isn't clear what they are saying. I rest my head on someone's shoulder and let my body go limp to try and decrease the amount of pain I am in. We start moving and, despite the person carrying me trying to avoid it, my injuries are jostled as a result, causing me to moan from the pain that runs through my body.
"Hey, you're alright. You're safe. You'll be fine. Don't worry. We got you," a voice murmurs kind words to me quietly and I cuddle up to the body even more, burying my head in their neck.
I whimper throughout the journey where ever as a result of the pain caused by the ship jostling but the voice keeps comforting me and the body moves my long black hair out of my face. They run their fingers through my hair and rub behind my ears. It feels nice and I began to purr in appreciation. I feel a rumbling in their chest which I assume is laughter. I don't care. I feel safe and content; I could get used to this.
Eventually the ship stops and the body moves. It starts walking with the others and then stops. I hear what sounds like a bottle cap coming off. The body moves me so I am upright, despite my whimpered protests, and lies me against a cool, comfortable surface. I hear the sound again and feel extremely tired. I force my eyes open slightly to see multiple blurry figures. I identify Lance stood by my side and the green one is by what I imagine is the control panel of what seems to be a pod. The rest are too far away for me to identify in the few ticks my eyes are open.
My eyes close and everything goes blank.
