When Endeavor finally left, the bell rang. School was over. I felt myself die in the middle of class so it didn't really mean much to me.
As I stand to leave, I hear Todoroki's voice from behind me, "want to go get something to eat, (Y/N)?"
I smile and nod, "that'd be amazing, Todoroki."
He nods and I follow him out of class. I follow him out of the school. And I follow him into a small cafe on the corner of an almost deserted street.
"Todoroki? We've walked for about 30 minutes, and this is where you wanted us to go," I ask, gesturing to the cafe.
He nods at me and finds a table. A cafe. A cat cafe. I walk with towards Todoroki to our seat and look at the menu.
After a few minutes, a waiter comes up to our table and we order. This cafe is pretty small and uncrowned, such is probably why Todoroki brought me here. Cause it's calm.
I put down my menu and look up at Todoroki.
"So... why'd you bring me here," I ask him. He looks at me, then back down at his own menu.
"I need to make sure you're eating food," he says.
I feel my face heat a little, "o-oh."
"Everything okay? Your not allergic to cats are you? Otherwise this friendship will never work," he says.
My face gets hotter. Todoroki's words echo in my head. Friendship. We're friends. Better yet, Todoroki considers me his friend.
"We," Todoroki pauses. "We are friends, right?"
"Yeah, ha, ha! We're friends. And I'm not allergic to cats, so don't worry," I reply.
Friends. Only friends. Why do I sound so sad about that? It could be worse! We could've been enemies! That would've been terrible with his strong he is!
"So, what's your quirk," he asks me out of the blue.
I falter, "my quirk? Well, uhh—."
I'm cut off by a cat jumping in my lap. I smile down at the cat and notice that it's a black and white cat.
I see that it's face is mostly white, except the black that covers it's right eye. I look at it, then up at Todoroki, then back at the cat.
I gasp, "oh, my god! You guys are twins!"
I turn the cat around and make it face Todoroki. Todoroki stares at the cat for a second before rubbing his hand over his scar.
"The scar is on the wrong side," he points out.
I laugh, "no, it's not." I bring the cat up and hold it next to Todoroki's face. "Hold it here so I can take a picture."
He nods and holds the cat beside his head. The cat yawns and stares me. I whip out my phone and take a photo of the scene.
Todoroki gives me the cat and I hand him my phone. I snuggle the cat and it meows at me. I look over at Todoroki and watch at his face goes to confusion before he cracks a small smile.
And before I knew it, he was laughing. I felt happiness flood my chest. He smiled at it... he laughed at it!!
I laugh with him and for a few seconds we sit there, just laughing. After a few seconds we compose ourselves and look at each other.
My heart flutters and I think of all those cliche movie scenes where the main characters would kiss now. Naturally, that didn't happen.
Instead, the cat yowled and clawed at me. I looked down at the cat and smiled.
"Hey, kitty," I said down to the cat.
"Her names Shery," said our waiter, carrying our food. "She's usually really mean to new comers though. You must be special."
I look up at the waiter, "I think it's because Sheryl and this boy right here are secretly related."
Todoroki looked at me and cracked a small smile. I smile back at his and the waiter puts out food on the table.
I thank the waiter and lay Sheryl next to me. Todoroki looks down at his food, then at Sheryl, and lastly, at me.
"You know," he speaks. His voice is soothing and calm. "All the cats here are adoptable."
I laugh for a moment, "really?"
He nods and goes to eat while I silently squeal. This is amazing! I'm going to adopt Todoroki's twin and then keep the twin. And Todoroki will never live this—.
Oh, wait, my parents would never allow a cat in our house. They wouldn't even let me have a friend over, let alone an animal.
All my dreams go crashing down. I look down at the cat and give a small, sad smile.
"Sorry, kitty. I don't think I'll be able to keep you," I whisper down at her. I didn't think Todoroki could hear me, but his next words proved me wrong.
"I could keep it. I don't think my dad would care too much, as long as he doesn't know," he speaks.
I beam at him, "really?" He nods. "Oh, my god, Todoroki that'd be amazing. Thank you! Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
He smiles at me and I laugh, "but."
I pause. What could he want in return? I love this cat already and I want to give it a good home, which I'm sure Todoroki could give it. What would he want in return?
"You have to tell me your quirk," Todoroki speaks.
Oh, no.
