(Reece's POV)
One of my friends was throwing this huge New Years party and really wanted me to go. I didn't want to leave Blake and George alone, so I invited them along. Okay... I more forced them to come with me, but that's not the point. The boys are what made this year so amazing and I want them to be there as we go into the next one.
I could sense George's uneasiness as the house came in view - he didn't really want to be here, he only came for the same reason I wanted him there. He's very shy so parties aren't exactly his scene.
Blake looked pumped. His eyes were lit up like a Christmas tree and his smile was growing by the second, his steps getting faster and faster. Clearly he's excited. And the second we stepped a foot through the door, we lost him.
"Where did he go? We haven't even been here 10 seconds." George asked, looking around.
I shrugged. "Probably at the bar or finding a girl to dance with."
"Oh, right."
There was a tinge of sadness in his voice that I wondered about, but I didn't question it.
"You wanna go get a drink?" I asked instead.
"Definitely."
We spent a while at the bar. George didn't want to leave - he kept saying he didn't feel like dancing just yet, but I know it's because he's shy and awkward and doesn't want to embarrass himself. Eventually I managed to get him to agree.
"You'll be fine." I assured him.
"I know, I just don't feel like dancing." He lied. Everything about his body language proved that.
His mood just seemed down and I wanted to cheer him up but I didn't know how.
"I'm gonna go to the bathroom, I'll be back in a minute." He said.
"Are you trying to run away? It's okay if you are, just be honest." I smiled, trying to lighten the mood.
It worked. "No, but I don't really feel like peeing on the dance floor, so if you'll excuse me..." He half smirked, half smiled.
I let him go and started looking for Blake. Instead, some familiar looking girl approached me.
"Hey, you look lonely." She chuckled.
"Not lonely, just lost. I'm looking for a friend - brown hair, brown eyes, tall, sharp jawline, cute button-like nose... You seen him?" I smiled back.
"Actually I have, I think he was grinding with some girl I don't know."
"Right..." I nodded. "Don't want to interrupt that then."
She laughed.
"I'm Zara." She held out her hand.
"Reece." I shook it.
"Wanna dance?"
"I really shouldn't..." I trailed off, scoping the room for George.
