Chapter 4

Haise slapped Urie's face.

"Even though a ghoul investigator must lose their hands and feet, he still has to run," Haise scolded.

Shirazu sat down on the couch in the living room with me while Mutsuki stood next to us.

Saiko was still in her room.

Urie looked towards Haise in a challenging manner.

"Was the mistake I did made me worthy enough of getting slapped?" Urie asked.

"As the leader, why are you putting your squad in danger instead?" Haise asked.

Urie moved his gaze somewhere.

"I thought it would be more dangerous if we run," Urie said.

"If you keep facing him, you will be killed," Haise said, "As long as you're still alive, there will always be another chance. If you lose your life, then there's nothing you can do!"

Haise paused.

"Urie," he said, "I'm taking off your title of squad leader of the Quinx."

Shirazu, Mutsuki, and I gasped.

"I can't accept that," Urie said.

"That's an order from your superior," Haise said.

The tension rose as we stayed quiet for a moment.

Urie decided to break the silence.

"You're only a ghoul," Urie said quietly.

Haise's eyes widened.

Mutsuki and I were about to scold him when Shirazu interfered.

"Urie!" Shirazu yelled.

Shirazu then kicked Urie's stomach.

Urie fell backwards.

"Sassan almost lost his life trying to save us!" Shirazu yelled.

Shirazu then grabbed Urie's collar, raising him from the ground.

"You're an asshole that's worse than ghouls!" Shirazu yelled, "I'm going to kill you!"

"Try me," Urie said calmly.

"Urie," Mutsuki said nervously.

Urie moved his gaze towards him.

"I want you to apologize to Sensei," Mutsuki said.

Urie stayed quiet.

"Shirazu, you can let him go now," Haise said.

Shirazu obeyed and took his hands off Urie's collar.

"Whatever Urie says, this decision is final," Haise said, "Other than that, the new captain has already been decided."

Haise paused again.

"The new squad leader of the Quinx is..." Haise said.

Haise then pointed his finger towards one of us.

"Rank 3 Investigator, Shirazu Ginshi."

"Huh?" Urie asked shocked.

"Huh?!" Shirazu asked in surprise.

Mutsuki opened his mouth in awe.

"Me?!" Shirazu asked in disbelief.

Urie frowned.

"W-W-Wait a minute Sassan!" Shirazu stuttered, "The one who deserves to be the captain should be a smart person, right? Don't you think L/N-chan should be the one?"
