The next afternoon, Haise and I sat down on the park where we met Tsukiyama.
Haise read his book while I gazed off into the distance.
Not long after, we heard a familiar voice.
"Bonjour," Tsukiyama greeted.
Today, he wore a different suit.
It was pink.
"I'm sorry about a few days ago," Tsukiyama said.
Haise then stood up.
"I also wanted to meet with you," Haise said.
"Well, what a coincidence," Tsukiyama commented.
Haise took a deep breath.
"Are you a ghoul?" he asked.
Tsukiyama widened his eyes.
"Let me change my question," Haise said, "Are you someone who knows Kaneki Ken?"
Tsukiyama kept silent.
"When I try to search myself, I always avoid him," Haise said, "But, if I know the things about him, maybe it can save him."
Tsukiyama eyed him.
"If you know, are you okay with it affecting your present life?" Tsukiyama asked.
Haise lowered his head.
"I don't want to," he admitted.
Tsukiyama slightly gasped.
"Even if my body is like this, I still want to become a human," Haise said, "I don't want to be Kaneki Ken who is feared among ghouls. I want this life to continue forever. But, one day I have to remember him. That is something that's similar to fate."
Haise fixed his posture.
"Please, if you really do know about me," Haise said, "Please tell me."
Suddenly, the breeze hits us as we waited for Tsukiyama's answer.
Tsukiyama then turned away.
"I'm sorry," he said, "It seems that I don't know what to say to you."
Tsukiyama then walked away.
I sighed as the wind keeps on passing by.
"I think he saw Kaneki in you," I said to Haise.
"Eh?"
"That's why..." I continued, "That's why, he didn't know what to say anymore."
Haise lowered his head.
"I see."
I smiled and stood up.
"Let's go home, Haise," I said, "I bet the others are waiting for your cooking."
Haise smiled and nodded.
"You're right," he said, "Let's go home."
Oshiete-
Sorry.
The next afternoon, Haise was inside the CCG's storage room where they kept all of their files.
At least, that's what I found out from Akira.
She wanted me to check on him, so I did.
I walked inside the room.
"You're really dedicated, Haise," I commented.
He averted his gaze from the file he was holding and eyed me.
"Y/N," he greeted.
"Are you looking for something?" I asked.
"Um, I'm checking the old files..." he said.
I raised an eyebrow.
"Amon Koutarou?" I asked.
Haise lowered his head a bit as he put the files back on the shelf.
"Yes," he admitted.
"He was Akira's old partner," I said with a slight smile, "He also has a big body, but inside he's kind of like a teddy-bear."
I coughed.
"He's really nice, and he cares about his comrades a lot," I said, "Although I've never worked with him, we've met a few times and he took me to a kebab place once with Akira and Seidou."
I fiddled with my outfit.
"He was declared dead at the Owl Extermination Operation, alongside with Seidou," I said, "Anything else you want to know?"
"How about the Eyepatch ghoul?" Haise asked.
I widened my eyes.
"K-Kaneki?" I asked, "W-Well, um..."
"Why are you keeping it a secret?!" Haise yelled, "Why don't I need to know? Is that because I am the Eyepatch ghoul?!"
Haise clenched his fists.
"Is it because I killed Amon Koutarou?!"
Haise tightened his grip.
"No you know the fear that haunts me when I wake up every morning without knowing anything, Y/N?" Haise asked, "And also, I can only rely on what was given to me."
A tear rolled down on Haise's cheek.
"Where exactly did I come from?!" Haise yelled, "Who exactly am I?!"
"Haise-"
"I'M NOT HAISE!"
Haise sniffed.
I then walked towards him.
"I'm..." he cried, "I'm...."
I hugged him.
"Haise," I softly said, "You are you, and your name doesn't matter."
Haise cried as I softly rubbed his back.
Haise, I may not know what you're going through.
But I'm always here when you need me.
And that's a promise.
