It was getting close to midnight and I still was not speaking to Landon. How could I? After my deepest darkest secret was exposed for all to see. About two hours beforehand after we had found the whole clan Queen Stephanie had kicked us out. There is something about that woman that just doesn't click with me. She's gorgeous, kind, smart. She's got everything going for her. ...but also an out-of-control temper just waiting to explode at you any minute. Although I guess everyone has their odds and ends. Without that we wouldn't be people, we would be perfectionists. Glossy eyed... roaming the streets alone... dullness. She definitely brings the color alright.
"So..." Antony said trying to make some conversation.
"Nothing." I snarled. God, I sound like my stepmother.
"Nothing." Landon seemed sad.
Genuinely sad. I kinda made me feel strange. Like I had caused the end of the world and no one would tell me.
"C'mon now. You two were so great once. Just, try to lighten up." Fauna moned.
I looked at Landon. He looked at me. I looked away. Things were not gonna get any less awkward. As we walk to wherever we were heading we began to notice a repetitive pattern. The same dead birch tree. The same mulberry bush. The same patch of yellow tulips.
Finally, I decided to speak up, "Are we walking in a circle? I could have sworn that we had passed that old dead treat many times before."
"You're right! We have. Do you suppose...?"
"Suppose what?"
"Do you think we've been walking through an eternal infinity loop?"
"Well I don't..." then all of the sudden that little demon kitty popped out of a bush.
"Hahaha..." he grimly laughed.
"You again!" Landon yelped.
"Yes. Me. You four were just so incredibly stupid to leave me in that castle. I just had to enchant your path."
"Ok," Antony began, "First of all, you ran away from us crying. Second, no one is pulling your neck. You didn't have to do this."
The little demon chuckled again at us. His eyes peering through our soles.
"Well, apparently you have never heard to old demon code that we terrestrial live by. If we are scared off, harmed, or even disobeyed we must haunt you to death do us part. I'm stuck with you four forever."
"Really?!" Fauna heathed. "I could be stuck with anyone in the world but it had to be you? You... you... you demon you!"
"Hey, I have a name y'know."
"Yeah, we are all fully away," I snarled at him, "What was it? Something domestic. Maybe... um..."
"I never told you."
"Oh. Well, what is it?"
"Bob."
"Bob!?" we all jumped out of our seats, except the fact that we were not sitting down. Just a figure of speech.
"What's so wrong with that name? I mean, it's a pretty normal name. I know plenty of Bobs."
"Yes," I said, "That's exactly it! It's a normal, average, not exciting whatsoever, name!"
"You're all so domesticated to your human ways! Us demons have pretty average lives to you know. We eat, we breathe, we sleep, we kill people."
"Yeah, pfft." I sarcastically giggled, "We totally do all of those things."
"At least your dad does..." Landon muttered under his breath.
"Calm the hell down you two. This is no time for drama," Fawn rolled her eyes, "Now, what can we do to get rid of you, you demon cat?"
"First of all, you can stop calling me a cat. Why, do I even look like a cat?"
"Yes." we all said in sequence.
"I shouldn't have said that."
"You really shouldn't have," I smirked.
"Okay. Now can I please go along with my dramatic speech?" No one said anything.
"Good. As I was saying, till death do us part."
"Isn't that what you say it wedding vows?"
"Antony!" Landon and I both screamed.
"Well, my kind is evil... or... at least that's what you humans say, so we kind stole those anyways they were copyright."
"What's copyright?" I puzzled.
" Oops, another human dream doomed to die."
"Wait... Do we get something called copyright in the future? That's kinda a dumb name. Copyright. The right to copy?'
"No. The right not to copy."
"Even dumber."
"Yeah, you humans do get pretty stupid."
"Hey!"
"You said it yourself, you hypocrite."
