Ghost
Aidan's POV
"Come on honey, you need to push." Mum whispered gently, as soon as I heard her voice my eyes opened. My heart almost burst from my chest when I looked around the room and saw where I was. Holy shit! Georgie is in labour and is about to give birth to my baby. I rushed over to the bed as fast as I could and tried to reach out for her hand but it was like I wasn't even in the room.
"I'm here babe, I'm here now." I said squeezing her hand but it felt different, and when I looked into her eyes, it was like she never saw me. What the hell?
"I can't, I can't do this." Georgie burst into tears as she threw her head back onto the pillow, I caught movement from the other side and saw my little sister. I moved back to give her more room as she just about shoved her face in Georgie's. What the hell is going on here? Georgie isn't due to have the baby yet. And why can't they see me? I'm standing right here!
"Yes you can, you've been waiting for this day since forever and now that it's here, you can't give up." Izzy said gently as she wiped the sweat and tears away from Georgie's crying face. Mum turned and face me as I sat down on the side of the bed, she just stared and then looked back towards Georgie who was know cry hysterically.
"I CAN'T, AIDAN'S NOT HERE! DO YOU NOT GET THAT! he was meant to be here, I can't do this without him." Georgie screamed and them choked the last bit out through more tears. There was enough waterworks to flood the room and the more I heard her cries, the more my heart was breaking for her. I'm dead? No, this was not meant to happen, I'm supposed to be there. No, this has got to be a dream. I looked around the room again and the nurses were busy trying to get everything ready, there was a midwife between Georgie's legs giving her some encouraging words that just went through deaf ears.
"Sweetheart, we know, we miss him so much as well but this little baby needs you right now." Mum said softly as she brushed the hair from Georgie's face to behind her ear. I stood up and moved back as I watched the woman that I love nod and then started pushing. The sounds of her tears were the only noise in the room until the sounds of a loud cry and the gushing sounds of Mum and Izzy as the baby was placed onto Georgie's chest.
"It's a boy!" Mum cried as she reached out for the baby's hand to hold. Izzy was leaning over a little to get a better view. The look on Georgie's face was pure love, through the tears and cries she still smiled down and brushed the mop of dark curls on our little boys head.
"He looks like his Daddy." she whispered as she gazed down, Mum started to cry more and Izzy was almost jumping off the walls from excitement that he was finally here.
"Oh sweetie, he does. Did you have a name picked out for him?" Mum asked as she rearranged the blanket so he would keep warm. My eyes still glued to the tiny baby that was curled up on his Mummy's chest, I wish I could hold him. I'm going to miss everything.
"Aidan's favourite was Tristan. We never picked a middle name, so I don't know." Georgie spoke softly as she rubbed the baby's back as he started to stir a little. I put my hand out to touch his pink chubby cheek as his face squished into Georgie's skin. When I did he stopped and opened his eyes briefly before going back to sleep.
"He looks like a Tristan. I bet he'd be just as naughty as his Daddy too. I love it." Mum grinned and then leaned in and kissed the baby's head. I just want to touch him. Georgie sniffled and then wiped her tears away. Izzy was smiling and rubbing her hand over Georgie's back for support. This has to be the hardest thing I'll ever see.
"How about Tristan Benjamin Taylor." Izzy said as she rubbed her finger over his chubby cheek. The sounds he was making was making my heart ache. I can't believe that I am not there, well I am but this is definitely not what I was expecting on the day my child was born. Is this what Callie went through when she passed away?
