Parenthood

1st September (Georgie 34 wks, Lexi 35 wks and 1 day, Tahni 37 wks)

Matty's POV

"Ugh, I feel so old." I heard Sums whine as she joined me in the kitchen where I was brewing the coffee. I let out a snort and shook my head. She shouldn't complain, at least she hasn't reached sixty yet and had any major health issues like I have.

"Babe, you're fifty four. Hardly an age I would call old." I said as I reached over to the mug holder and placed hers beside mine. It's just another Sunday for the both of us, even though it's her birthday and Father's Day for me, but we still enjoy it when the kids come over. Although when people ask her how many grandchildren she has and they hear that there's fourteen and more on the way, they always look so shocked.

"Whatever." she grumbled and walked over to the fridge to pull out the eggs and bacon. The smells of her cooking will wake up Jace, I'm not sure what he was up to last night but he only got home around three from what I heard. I could tell he was upset that the girls weren't going to be with him this morning, I'd be devastated as well. He's trying is best to do as much as he can for his daughters, he's been forever looking for the right house so they have their own space. Let's just hope something comes up soon that he likes.

"Do we tell the kids today that we will be leaving at the end of October?" I asked Sums as I poured the coffee, smells like heaven. She stopped as she got to the stove and looked at me with her thinking face on and she sighed.

"I'm not doing it, I'd be too emotional to say anything. Best if you tell them." she said with a cheeky smirk through her sad voice, damn it! She did that on purpose. Sums and I have officially decided on our leave date for our round Australia journey. So far we have definitely decided on being away for six months and if we want to extend it further we can or just come home. Trying to hide all the planning from the kids has been hard as Jace has been living here, so he's always around and his ears are always listening.

"Tell us what?" Jace said as he walked around the corner. See what I mean! It's just like he knows when to walk in when Sums and I are talking. It's nice having one of the kids home again as it has been a while but it was nice just being my wife and I. I can't walk around naked like I had been doing, I'm sure Jace would love to his old man strutting his naked self around the house.

"To tell you to please put some clothes on." Sums replied as she looked at our son with her brows raised. Well he is only wearing a pair of boxers that were riding pretty low across his hips. He sure hasn't been himself lately, but I can tell something is tormenting him. I just wish he would tell me more, he's always been the only one that doesn't open up fully to me. Unlike his brothers who tell me just about everything, it sometimes feel like I haven't done enough for him. Sums does tell me I have and says Jace is just more private.

"I know that wasn't it, but I'll let it slide this time, you better soon though." he warned and then made his way over to the table and sat down. Just like he was expecting breakfast or something.

"What did you get up to last night?" I asked him curiously, if the huge bite mark on his chest is anything to go by, my guess he got attacked by a vampire. Another thing I'd wish for, is that he'd stop fooling around with random chicks. I have noticed that when he returned from wherever he went for those couple weeks, he looks and acts different and a part of him is missing. It's like he's trying to protect his heart from getting hurt, and as much as fucking people senseless might help for that time, it's not going to fix it. Grabbing another mug, I poured him a coffee and then joined him at the table.
