It had been a week since I found out about Kayla. It turned out Brennen hadn't done anything to her, it was her ex boyfriend who wanted them to be more again. I had spent the last week visiting her every day, all day while Brennen came as well. I had become better friends with Brennen, too.
Consequently, I'd basically not spent any time with Colby or anyone else in the house.
Kayla was mostly back to normal now, but Brennen was specifically more careful around her in case he set off a trigger.
I walked through the doors after being at Kayla's all day for the last time. As usual, I went straight upstairs and into Colby's room. He sat at his desk editing with his earphones in. I shut the door and sat on his bed, which he saw through the corner of his eye as he whipped his head around.
"Hey," he smiled and closed his laptop.
"Hi," I straightened my back, hearing one or two quiet cracks.
"How's Kayla?"
"She's a lot better, I'm going to still go every day but less time"
"That's good" he walked over and gave me a peck but he didn't move away. "I've missed you" he kissed me again making me smile.
"I'm glad because I've missed you, too" he put more effort into the kiss this time, starting to push me back on the bed, then making me lie down completely. He intensified our kiss once more, then started trailing his hands around my body. I flipped us over then pulled away, standing up.
"Sorry, pretty boy. I'm getting ready for bed" I winked and walked to my case, pulling out the pyjamas I occasionally used and walked to the bathroom, locking the door.
After my shower, I changed and dried my hair. By the time I'd gone back into his room, he'd gone back to his computer. I could tell he was nearly done with his editing because he was watching through it.
He glanced at me as I sat down on his bed again but this time he finished watching the video and then closed his laptop. He sat beside me, checking his phone and throwing it on the bedside table. Meanwhile I sat stretching.
"So from now on, I can spend more time with you?" he asked.
"Yup. Kayla's mostly back to normal but I need to watch out for any triggers so I still need to be there" we lay down as I'd spoke and by the time I'd finished, he had his arm around me and was tracing circles on mine.
"I'm glad" he took a deep breath. Then I decided now would be the right time.
"Just a random question, what would you do if I was pregnant?" he stopped tracing circles and shifted to see my face. "Random question" I reminded him, even though it really wasn't.
"What do you mean 'what would I do?' as in help you or leave?"
"Yeah. At this age, would you leave me or stay and help?" he looked at my stomach. "Stop it, answer the question" he locked eyes with me.
"I guess, hyperthetically, I'd help you. I wouldn't just abandon a child and the girl I love now, would I?"
"No, fair point" he began lifting up my top to look at my stomach. I laughed and pulled his hand away.
"Stop it""No harm in being cautious when you spring a question like that out of nowhere" he shrugged.
"I was just wondering about what you'd do" I played it off, shrugging.
"Fair play I guess, but is that the sort of thing you think about? Kids?"
"Sometimes"
"At this age or for the future?"
"Hyperthetically this age but I definitely think about the future"
"Well how many do you think you'll want?"
"Two to three. Two girls and a boy"
"Wow, the only thing I think I'll want is two but you've got gender and everything" we chuckled as we lay in the dark, literally talking about babies when I knew I had one 'cooking in the oven' right now.
"Atleast we agree" I shrugged, while he pulled me closer.
"That's good but I'm quite tired" he complained while yawning.
"Then go to sleep" I smiled, pecked him, then turned over.
"I was planning on it" his voice didn't sound attached to his body. He fell asleep way too fast for me but I wasn't awake for too much longer.
I had the same dream I'd had before, but this time there were two girls, they looked slightly different ages, they slept in the same room and had very similar features. This time only one of them was scared, the other comforting her. A little boy had walked up to me and asked what all the screaming was. I had replied 'Your sister was just having nightmares again' then he had walked back to a room down the corridor.
I woke up but wasn't screaming or making any sort of noise this time, I guess the thought that I'm legitimately pregnant is dumbifying the dreams and making them irrelevant. I had a feeling I'd have them every night now, but I guess I'd just have to wait and see.
I still felt the arm around me so I knew Colby wasn't awake yet, probably wouldn't be for a while based on the light level in his room. I sat up, being careful to move slow in an attempt not to wake him. By the time I had climbed off of the bed, I began feeling the morning sickness. I rushed to the bathroom - luckily making it in time - but I forgot to lock the door. Sam casually walked in then apologised when he saw me. I stood up and waved him an 'it's fine' before quickly washing my mouth out as he started to fix his hair in the mirror while stealing occasional glances in my direction.
"So, what's happening with this illness?" he asked. I looked at him for a moment - do I tell him or not? Could he keep the secret from his best friend? He'd be the first person Colby went to, right? I glanced at the door behind him then walked to it and locked it.
"Why'd you do that?""Because, Sam. It's not an illness and Colby doesn't know so you have to keep this hush, OK?!" I said in a whisper. He nodded then glanced at my stomach like he knew what was coming.
"I'm pregnant" I said, bluntly. His face looked shocked and now he stared."For real?"
"Yes, for real. I haven't gotten round to having an appointment yet but, as you're probably the first person he'd go to, I thought I'd tell you. Obviously not in this way but now you know. Also other that know are Kat, Devyn and Amanda but remember, Colby doesn't know"
"Kat knows? Damn, she can really hide things from people. How do you plan on telling him?"
"I don't know that yet, I just need some time before I'll be ready to tell him so just, if he is suspicious and starts thinking that - and you know, he talks about it to you - try to push him off of the path so that he won't figure it out on his own" Sam nodded then pointed at the door behind him.
"May I leave?"
"Yeah, sorry. I just didn't want anyone to hear"
"It's no problem, have fun with that, then" he smiled then left. I went back into Colby's room, noticing he had almost fell off of the bed. I quickly, but gently, picked up one of his arms and laid him the other way - just so he didn't lose the few brain cells he had (I'm joking!).
