Shadow's P.O.V.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My family wasn't always there when I needed them. My family was a wolf tribe. The last one known around this part of the forest. The alpha male, my father, was not the kindest one out of all the ones in my tribe. His ears and tail where like mine, black as a night with no moon. My mother, was the one who always cared for me when I needed someone. Her ears and tail where the brightest shade of light gray. She died though when I was very young. She was hunting with some members of the pack, when another wolf came, and killed them without mercy. I am the second born of the children of my parents. My older brother, Shade, was next to be the alpha male. His ears and tail where dark gray as a stormy sky. He was now eighteen years of age, and I was only ten now. Because my family was a wolf tribe, today was the day my little sister, Cinder, would get her ears and tail. According to my father, she is next to have the white ears and black tail. But I really know who had gained the markings of the moon spirit; Kiba. The girl I knew became my best friend. My only friend my age. "Shadow, aren't you coming with me to the tree of Tskiakari?" Cinder asked, walking over to me in our den. I smiled at my little sister. She had blonde hair, green eyes, and the personality of a girl that would make even my father 'aww' at. "I'm coming Cinder." I said standing up and putting my drawing of the black wolf with red eyes away.
We walked out of the camp together, talking and getting excited about her getting her ears and tail. "Big brother?" Cinder said sounding scared. "Yes Cinder?" I said looking down at her as she held my arm. "Will that girl that you spend time with down at the lake be there?" She asked. I was stunned, how did she know about Kiba? Was she following us? "How did you know about her Cinder?" I asked stoping once we got to the clearing. "I saw you both talking the other day, and how she made you laugh and smile like how Mommy did with us when we where kids. She has the white ears and black tail." She said looking up to the tree, and the hole that held the wolf carving inside. Cinder held her toy wolf tight. It was the one she had since birth, and the one that she will use to gain her ears and tail. I sighed and bent down so I was her height. "Cinder--" "it's ok big brother. I know that she will be the next moon spirit. And I think she is a better choice than me." Cinder said smiling. Why was she smiling? "And, she might be a better choice for your mate than who Daddy has chosen for you: Kana." Kana the tribes' female that most of the male's my age wanted to be mates with. She was so rude and mean, and never liked kids, so I see why Cinder thought Kiba would be a better suitor for me. I smiled and hugged Cinder and she hugged me back.
"Well, we will have to see what time does as she and I spend more time together." I chuckled, and she laughed. We both nodded to each other as I helped her climb the tree and into the hole. Cinder took her toy wolf, and crawled inside. I saw the glow, her yelp in pain, and her about to fall out. I caught her, and her wolf, then rushed back home to watch over her while her changing took place.
I waited in the den, for the changing proses of Cinder to finish. It had been hours, and she was still asleep. Shade came walking in, in his wolf form. A solid dark gray wolf was what he turned into. I couldn't change into my wolf form yet until I myself turned eighteen. "Any change yet?" He asked me, laying down next to Cinder and helping to keep her warm. "Almost." I said watching as her ears slowly formed on her head, and her hair turned gray. Ash gray, like how our mother had. Shade looked in confusion at her hair. "Wait, her hair is suppose to be white. And a black tail." He said growling as the process finished and Cinder woke up yawning. "How do I look?" She asked smiling at me. "Cinder, you don't have the white ears, or black tail that father knew you would get once you turned six." Shade said shifting back to his human form. I looked at him, worried that he might find out about Kiba. "Oh well. I guess we just have to wait until the next girl to get her ears and tail turns six." She said shrugging her shoulder.
The next day, father was talking to the tribe. He stood proud and ready to talk. The scar across his nose from the battle he had with the wolf that killed my mother was what I looked at the most from my father's facial features. "Last night," he began. "My daughter, Cinder, traveled with Shadow to the sacred tree of Tsukiakari. But when she returned, Cinder had gained the pelt coloring of my deceased mate, Moon." He stated.
I was listening to him as I sat at the edge of the opening to the den. "Is Daddy mad at the pelt coloring I have?" Cinder asked crawling over to me and bender her new ears down. "No, he was just expecting a different pelt coloring." I said rubbing her head softly as she sat in my lap.
Father talked more and more about what would happen if they didn't find the next one to become Tsukiakari. I knew who was going to be her, and Cinder did as well. I just hoped that Kiba would be safe from harm, and I also hoped that we would be friends for years to come. But I didn't know if we would be more.
