♡Baby's P.O.V.♡
"Well, I've come to pick herbs," the person said.
"Herbs?" Naruto asked.
"Yes. Like the ones used for treating sicknesses and wounds."
The person seemed innocent enough. I was still cautious and found it cute how, even if he is oblivious to most things, Naruto still had an instinct to want to protect me. While explaining themselves on why they were here, I could tell that the mysterious person was indeed male by how deep their voice was.
I don't really know how but after a few minutes, Naruto had convinced me to help the stranger in picking the herbs they needed. All three of us sat in the field as Naruto and the boy talked. I tuned out what they were talking about and got lost in my thoughts.
×Naruto's P.O.V.×
The girl sat across from me with her wicker basket to her left. She had a calm expression and I wondered what was going through her mind.
"You got a lot to do early in the morning, sis..." I stated, wanting to make conversation. "You seem to as well. Plus, I like the morning. It's calm, but I didn't think I find you two hanging out here." the girl answered.
I looked over at Baby and saw she was deep in thought. It was cute. Real cute. I blushed.
I laughed with a big smile at what the girl said. "I was coming out her with Baby to train!" I said with enthusiasm. The girl liked either surprised or confused. "So are you a ninja then? Because I noticed that headband you're wearing..." she trailed off, "or are you just making a fashion statement?"
I felt a swell of pride. To think someone recognized me as a ninja. As someone with strength and potential. "You noticed that, did ya?" I asked with a prideful smile. The girl nodded. I cheered as said, "All right! Only super cool Ninjas can wear these!"
"Oh, really?" she humored me, "I see. That's very impressive."
I laughed before looking back down and continued to pick herbs. It was silent for a good moment until the girl asked me a question that I didn't have to think long for an answer.
"But does that mean you're training for something dangerous?"
I don't have to really think. " I'm just training to develops my skills so I can get stronger!"
"You seem very strong now. Isn't that enough?" she asked.
"No. No, I have to keep getting stronger! I have to keep practicing!"
"Why? What makes training so important to you?"
I didn't really know. I had always trained in order to be strong. That way I could be a ninja. But, nowadays, I feel like that isn't the only reason to train anymore.
"I wanted to be strong so I could be the best ninja in my village. Then everyone will know who I am and respect me! There is also a kid I have to prove something too! But there is also someone I promised to myself I would protect with my life!" I said with determination in my voice.
"Is that someone you have to protect her?" when she asked that, she pointed to Baby. I looked back and watched her. With her head down, Baby's apple red pigtails covered some of her face, but when a gust of wind came by, I was bestowed with gazing at her natural beauty.
I smiled and blushed before nodding. "She is the most important person in my life. We met at the academy and she was my first friend. Dare I say that I've definitely grown the love her."
I looked back at the girl and saw she had a kind smile on her pale lips. "So you're training for her and that kid or for yourself?" she asked.
"Huh?"
She just giggled. I got slightly frustrated.
"What's that supposed to mean? What are you laughing about?!" my yell seemed to have brought Baby out of her deepened thoughts and she glanced over at us before beginning to watch us.
"Is there...someone who is precious to you?" the girl asked.
"Someone who...?" I blushed but wanted to play off my embarrassment now that Baby was watching. "What are you saying, sis? What do you mean precious?"
My words seemed to throw the girl off. She went onto deep thoughts and silence for a minute or two. She finally looked up at me and I couldn't help but wonder what was in her mind.
"You see when a person has something precious that they want to protect, then they become genuinely strong."
My eyes widened. If I had to think of something that was precious to me, my first answer would be Baby. I looked back at her only to see her staring at me. With a blush, I whipped my head around to avoid her gaze. Embarrassing.
I heard Baby giggle behind me and blushed harder.
I then thought of Inari and his dad. Then Kakashi-Sensei. Then Iruka-Sensei.
I smiled. "Yeah! I hear ya! I know exactly what you're saying!" the girl on gave a light smile before grabbing her basket and standing up. With her back turned to me, she said, "You will get strong. Very strong."
With that and a quick goodbye, she began to leave. Before she was out of my sight, she stopped.
"Oh. By the way, I'm a boy."
I was stunned and had a mental panic. He's prettier than Sakura! And she was the most beautiful to me until I met Baby!
Baby's hysterical laughter broke my thoughts. Looking back at her, I could see she was laying in the grass on her back with her hand grasping her stomach while laughing hard. I growled and pounced on her.
Nipping at her neck, I made her finish her giggles. "So, " she began, "is that boy any prettier than me?" It was a teasing question, but I don't falter with my answer.
"No one could ever be as beautiful as you, my love," with that, I pecked her on the lips. Our loving silence was broken by a Teme coming and calling us out. "Hey! Losers!"
I glared and sat up and let Baby up as well. "Who you calling loser, Teme?" I asked angrily. "You," he answered, "now did you two forget about Lunch?" Baby giggled and quickly ran over to Sasuke while pulling me in tow.
I smile at her joy and watched her walk ahead of Sasuke and I as we walked side-by-side. "You really like her, huh?" Sasuke asked. I looked at him.
"More than anything else."
