It felt weird.
It really felt weird to laugh like that. Such a pure laughter, and out of nowhere. Hoseok wondered how he was able to laugh like that after everything he had gone through.
As if meeting these six boys was actually a miracle, Hoseok had already noticed a little change in his usually bored and gloomy attitude.
But any of that didn't change the fact that he still forced himself to hold back. He wasn't ready to let go of everything he had at the moment. A cover, a perfect mask to hide his true, vulnerable self. Slowly, he was ripping it off, but he would have to stop himself from revealing it all.
He didn't trust the six newbies. Heck, he had only met them today. His life isn't a fairy tale where a bunch of princes just appear in his life and make all the pain and sadness go away.
That's just not how this thing called 'life' works.
It was a rollercoaster inside Hoseok's head, as he was making his way to the classroom where his bag had been left, forgotten.
He almost felt bad for his poor bag. He shouldn't abandon his dear friend like this ever again, it had been with him for almost fifteen years now after all.
Luckily, it was break time, and Hoseok didn't have to embarass himself in front of the whole class, while he was picking up his bag. The halls sure were crowded now though, no-one wanted to go outside while it was raining this badly.
Along the huge student mass, the six boys who had promised to wait for Hoseok near the school's exit, had disappeared. They really were nowhere to be found once Hoseok got back there. Not like he would mind it, he just wanted to get back to his apartment after all.
Without thinking twice, Hoseok opened the door, and went outside. He could hear couple unfamiliar voices, probably female students, calling his name. Oh little did he care about them chasing after him once again.
But as soon as Hoseok had gotten out of the school building, he suddenly started to miss the newbies he had been just a moment ago.
Well, not really the boys themselves, but he sure wouldn't mind having an umbrella now.
With a loud sigh, Hoseok stared at the soaked school yard in front of him for another good minute. Just how in the world was he going to survive all the way back to his apartment...
"I'll just run... Right?" he mumbled to himself, as he adjusted the black bag on his shoulder. The rain wasn't going to come to an end, the sky was getting darker, and Hoseok wasn't going to get an umbrella just by wishing to have one, so what was the point of waiting anymore.
Yeah, he was going to get all cold and soaked anyways. If he wouldn't be feeling too bad to come to school tomorrow, he would make up another lie to tell for the six boys. Just some lame excuse to not wait for them to appear after he had gotten his bag. It was kind of their fault too, they were the ones who said they would wait for Hoseok near the doors.
Hoseok softly clapped his cheeks to get himself to focus on what he was about to do. He took another, deep breath, before clumsily jumping out to the rain.
It really was pouring water out of the sky today, and running with his wet and heavy shoes wasn't making the trip any more lovely for Hoseok.
The first few minutes were awful to say at least, but soon he got used to the overwhelming coldness. Actually, the weather itself wasn't as cold as it felt like, but it was the hellish wind that made every inch of his body shiver.
What at first seemed like a rainy day, had turned into a stormy one, and Hoseok was once in a million years actually happy to get inside of his ridiculously small and uncomfortable apartment.
He left his clothes to dry under the closed window, and the boy himself went to get a quick shower. After doing so, he felt as exhausted as ever, and only put on his underwear and an oversized, long sleeved shirt.
Soon, he still had to go on and find his grey sweatpants, since the radiator in his apartment wasn't really working. Not like it was anything new to him.
At least he was only shivering, scared, and alone. Not hungry, like he usually was. And that's all thanks to the six, annoying angels he met today.
"Oh gosh, what a day.. It's not even three pm yet and I'm already exhausted.." Hoseok groaned, trying to wrap the blanket around his trembling frame even tighter. He leaned his back against the wall, and buried his head under the blanket, too.
It indeed wasn't even late in the afternoon, but Hoseok was so ready to go to sleep. The weather outside was making him feel tired. When it wasn't too dark outside, he felt at peace.
Before resting his head on the wall behind him, Hoseok whispered in the silence. "Please, let me sleep this time.."
