"How cute!"

Hoseok almost choked on the grilled baby carrot he was trying to chew, as he heard what Jimin called him. He looked at the grinning boy with his eyes wide open.

Cute? For real now...

Out of all the either kind or insulting ways to describe Hoseok's fear of getting his ears pierced, this shortie had picked the word 'cute'.

Swallowing the baby carrot, which just to mention, was so freaking well grilled, Hoseok decided just to keep his mouth shut for once.

It wasn't his problem that this Jimin guy was talking nonsense.

Well, even if Hoseok wasn't going to make any noise, it didn't mean that no-one was going to. It was seven youngsters having a meal together after all, no such a thing as silence would be invited to this party.

And speak of the devil ー not even three seconds passed by, and Jin was already making a question towards their guest. "Hey, Hoseok. What do you think of the food? Tasty?"

"Yeah," Hoseok mumbled. It had been kind of rude of him to not mention how good Jin's dishes actually were.

"Best meal I've had for a long time."

"For real now?" Jin gasped, almost dropping his chopsticks. "Oh my, you're gonna make me blush! This isn't even anything that special.."

"Oh! I know! You should totally come visit us more often, we are friends now after all, am I right?!"

Hoseok's heart skipped a beat.

So many years had actually passed by, without him having any kind of good relationships, including friends of course. Not too many memories were left from the early days, when he still used to have couple friends, yet they were just painful enough to make Hoseok's heart ache.

Rumors, hitting, kicking... If this so called 'beginning of a new friendship' was going to end like that one, then Hoseok wouldn't want to have any part in it.

...But it seemed like he already was deep down in this friendship shit.

"I guess so..." he finally responded, even though in a very monotonic voice. "Thank you for the meal."

"Hey, hey, hey, I didn't say that as a wish for you to stop! You haven't even touched the ramen I made!"

The tone of Jin's voice was sad, and so was the puppy-like expression on his face. Seeing that after already placing his chopsticks on the edge of his plate made Hoseok feel a little bit of guilty for stopping eating like that. Right after Jin's invitation.

He just wasn't feeling like eating anymore, not after his head was full with bad memories again. His appetite was fully gone, and it couldn't be helped.

"C'mon, now I feel bad for stuffing all that food into my mouth" Jimin whined from the other side of the table, resting his chubby cheeks on his cupped hands.

Great, another sad puppy.

"I think we should let him be" Namjoon said, surprising Hoseok by standing up for him. "He's sick after all, no wonder if his appetite isn't too great today."

Without even having the chance to thank the grapeheaded savior of his, Hoseok just awkwardly stayed on place until the rest of them were also done eating.

It wasn't like the others had forgotten about Hoseok, but every time someone asked something that included him, someone else was already talking over that question, that leading to Hoseok staying quiet.

"Hey, you okay there?"

Hoseok lifted his head up from the table after feeling a light knock on his shoulder. It was Jungkook.

"Hm, yeah..." he murmured as an answer, not even really realizing the fact that he was pretty much the only one sitting on the table at this point. Seems like he had spaced off once again.

How typical of him.

"You could have just gone to rest after you were done eating, but I appreciate your table manners. You do seem to have them, unlike some others" he heard Jin talk to him.

Jin was already putting away all the leftovers and empty plates, having Taehyung and Jimin help him out.

"You better not be referring to me" Taehyung groaned, closing the fridge.

"You know it by yourself if I'm talking about you. I'm positively sure."

"Did you just look at me!?" Jungkook cried out in anger, joining the conversation and slamming his hands against the table, creating a rather loud sound by doing so.

"You're not Namjoon! It's not your job to destroy stuff!"

"Excuse you!?" a deep voice yelled from the livingroom.

Wanting to leave the boys to solve their own fight, Hoseok got up from his seat without making much noise, and so he made his way to the livingroom. He was feeling pretty exhausted, which was quite ironic since he had just eaten, consumed calories, energy..!

Maybe washing his face would make him feel even a bit better. But, where the hell is the bathroom...

"Looking for something?"
