Dark.
There was no beginning to the darkness that had now surrounded him. Talk about it, neither was there an exit out of the pitch black space.
It was suffocating him.
Every move he made felt like a mistake, as if there was someone to hear the steps he took in the middle of nothing but darkness. He could hear his own heartbeat echoing in the blended in walls.
"Hoseok. Are you ready to come out? Or do I need to keep you there for few more hours?"
Oh no.
Hoseok loudly gulped, before turning around to face the way he heard the voice coming from. His heart was racing fast, too fast for him to believe the loud noises were actually his heartbeats.
Even a silence like this could be so loud.
"What do you say, Hoseok?"
There was a small box of light, just big enough to fit in a silhouette of a grown woman. Her hair was shorter than Hoseok had remembered...
"M-Mom.."
"Jung Hoseok, talk louder. Do you think I have time to stay here all day and listen to you pathetic whispering?"
Hoseok felt small in this person's presence. It had been years since he had seen his mother, yet just hearing her voice triggered so many uncomfortable memories he would rather vanish away.
The corners of his dark eyes started to get a little wet, tears slowly forming and falling down to the ground.
The small box of light was getting thinner. A heavy basement door being dragged back to it's place was the source of the overwhelming screech, making Hoseok snap out of his place.
"Don't go!" he yelled after the figure, but it wasn't working. His body was moving on his own, and before he knew it, he was running.
"Don't leave me here!"
There was only one, tiny light spot left. But he could still make it, he had to make it...
"Please..!" ー It was too late. The last loud slam echoed all around him, vanishing every bit of hope left in his heart. He didn't want to be there, in the dark, all alone...
"I don'tー"
Thump!
Hoseok cried out in pain, as he fell on the hard wooden floor, the back of his head hitting the nightstand next to the big bed inside the guest room during the fall.
Wait ー the guest room? As the boy's hand made it's way to hold the aching spot under his messy hair, his eyes fluttered open.
It was still dark in the room, the lights were off, but the full moon shining through the thin curtains was producing just enough light for Hoseok to see the edges of the furtniture in the room.
To go back to what happened a couple hours ago, all the boys decided to go to sleep, one by one. Hoseok's nose had stopped bleeding after a while, but before he could take off the small paper plugs out, all of the other six had tried to make him speak just so they could hear how his voice sounded like.
It was fun for everyone else expect Hoseok, who felt like he was going to pass out because of how lightheaded all the affection as well as embarassment made him feel.
Curse Jin and Namjoon for spilling the news about his high-pitched voice.
Now then, Hoseok had made sure to keep the lights on, since the room had nothing smaller than the lamp hanging from the ceiling to light up the otherwise pitch black room. Moonlight wasn't really enough, yet it was all Hoseok had left.
Maybe someone had come to check up on their guest, and closed the lights before leaving, thinking the ravenette left them on accidentally.
So it was a dream after all, Hoseok thought to himself, trying to keep his teary gaze focused of the little light spots dancing on the floor. His body felt weak and his hands were shaking ー not only was he sick, but also scared to death.
"Hoseok? Are you okay? I heard a loudー What are doing on the floor?" a sweet voice asked, the questions being followed by the guest room's door getting opened wider and wider.
It made no sound, yet just seeing something so similiar to the nightmare he just woke up from, made Hoseok loudly whine out of control.
"Hoseok... You're acting a little weird now..."
Jin was now down on the floor with the smaller male, whose whole figure was curled against the nightstand standing proudly in the dark room.
The exotic hair color of the taller one's wasn't as shocking without lights to show it off, and it was hard to even tell where the male was in such a lightless space.
Yet Hoseok could still feel how a pair of hands slowly wrapped around his torso, carefully pulling him into a comforting hug. Eyes closed and body trembling all over, even the ravenette let his hands to grip onto Jin's pajamas, giving in to the feeling of needing someone to hold him.
"Hoseok" Jin softly spoke. "By any chance..."
"...Are you scared of the dark?"
