"...Are you scared of the dark?"
Hoseok closed his eyes, tight. The wet spots covering his lashes made them stick together, making him want to never open his eyes again. He didn't want to face the boy in front of him, he knew he couldn't after hearing what he had asked.
"D-Don't tell anyone..."
Jin was just as confused as at the moment he had seen Hoseok sitting on the floor. Sure, it had been his assumption that the boy he was holding didn't like the dark, but getting such a straightforward answer made him feel like something was off.
This Hoseok wasn't acting like the Hoseok he had seen until then.
"Why?" Jin asked, rubbing circles on Hoseok's back.
The sound of sobbing made Jin fasten the pace in order to give more comfort to the poor boy. He felt horrible for letting him cry in his arms.
"Can you stand up? I can put the lights on, go lay on the bed allright? You're still sick, and the floor is kinda cold..."
Jin helped Hoseok up, letting the latter sit on the bed instead of the rock hard floor. Turning the lights on, he groaned due to the sudden change of lighting in the now so glowy room.
The athmosphere inside the four walls was quite tense. Hoseok only stared at his teary sweaterpaws and Jin had no idea what he could do to make the situation any better. His hands were getting sweaty, and his eyes wandered all around the room to look for something to ease the state Hoseok was in.
Yet the only thing that caught Jin's eyes was the trembling mess sitting on the soft bed in the middle of the room.
"Hoseok," he whispered, earning a small sob from Hoseok. "Is there anything that I can do for you? What usually helps you when you're scared?"
Jin sat down next to Hoseok, and wrapped his arms around his figure, pulling him into a soft and comforting hug. This was the least he could do to help their little guest.
"I promise I won't say anything to others, just let me help you..." he tried again, still not getting an answer.
"I know we just met, and I know the whole beginning of our so called friendship has been... well, weird, but I hope you could still trust me with this."
The sweater paws those had been located near Hoseok's puffy eyes were now slowly moving towards Jin's broad shoulders. Letting the boy move freely in his arms while still holding him close, Hoseok turned around to surprisingly ー hug Jin.
"Oh?"
"J-Just don't go..."
And like that Hoseok melted on top of the taller one. Thinking the boy on his arms needed some rest, Jin softly layed Hoseok on top of the bed and fell right next to him, still not letting go of his frame.
Just like a little animal of some kind, Hoseok too held tightly onto the fabric of Jin's pajamas and snuggled even closer to him. He couldn't quite put his finger on what it was, but something made him feel like he was allowed to be this vulnerable for once.
The small sobbing noises Hoseok had made earlier were getting fewer, and the hiccups were gone. Jin was relieved ー it seemed like he had been able to calm Hoseok down. It was such a soft sight to see how his dark brown doe eyes disappeared under the full lashes of his.
He had fallen asleep.
That was quick, Jin thought to himself, as the little snores coming right next to him filled up the silence they had been cuddling in. He must have been very tired... And scared...
Now then ー In order to let Hoseok continue on his slumber Jin couldn't really move. The boy had snuggled himself so close to Jin that they had practically become the same person. Jin had his hands wrapped around the clingy boy which made moving around even harder.
What was even worse than all that? Jin's position on the bed was the most uncomfortable ever. Maybe he had payed no attention to it since his main issue was to get Hoseok calm down, but still... How could he have ended up halfway on the bed, on his side, with his legs still hanging over the edge of the bed.
But he was doing this for Hoseok. Who knows if he wasn't in fact sleeping as peacefully as it looked like? It could be that the precence of another body near him was the only thing that was making him relax enough to let himself fall into a state that you could hardly even call sleeping.
If Jin had been there with someone else like Taehyung or Namjoon, basically any of the boys he had lived with for so long, he wouldn't have moved even an inch. If he wanted to earn Hoseok's trust, he would have to treat him equally to anto else he deeply loved.
And well, who could have resisted the little sleepy bambi he was holding under the bright lighting. How could one even sleep in that brightness...
"...Hoseokie, why are the lightsー Oh?"
