Third Person's POV

"Are you by any chance Johanna's daughter?" Professor Rowan asks the blunette.

"Uhh, yea I am," Dawn answers with a perplexed look. "Do you know my mom?"

"She happened to leave on her journey from this very lab," The white bearded man answers. "Man I'm getting old." He chuckles. "And she had the same look in her eye as you do today, I'm a Professor so I notice that kind of stuff."

"That's a little less creepy then, my name's Dawn," She laughs with the Professor who then turns to Ash.

"I don't recognize you though boy," The Professor states.

"I just moved here from Kanto," Ash explains.

"Ohhh," Rowan realizes something and guides the group to his computer. "I'm guessing you're the boy Professor Oak loves to talk about."

"Really?" Ash asks in surprise, blushing a bit in embarrassment. Dawn also wasn't expecting the poem master to talk up Ash like Professor Rowan is making it sound.

"The stuff he says is quite unbelievable," The Professor chuckles. "I'm hoping you can demonstrate some of the things Professor Oak tried to describe through many emails."

"You should have seen what happened on the way here," Dawn states. "Ash calmed down a Bidoof that was ready to make a snack out of my ankles."

"Maybe he wasn't exaggerating then," Professor Rowan says and brings up a recent email from the Kanto professor. "He notified me that you were moving here. Ol' Oak here also wanted me to make sure you were going to be prepared to leave in the next few days."

"I'll have to thank him then," Ash smiles. "That's the reason I, or I guess both of us came to find you."

"As Ash proved in a situation he may never speak of," Dawn playfully glares at the boy before continuing. "I have a lot to learn before leaving."

"You guys are in luck then," Professor Rowan smiles and stands up. "I have no problem helping young ones learn, especially two that I believe have potential."

"Thanks Professor," Dawn beams. "But we don't want to take too much of your time since isn't this your busiest time of the year?"

"My region is smaller than it used to be Dawn," The Professor states while leading them to the back field. "Ever since they built that new lab for starting trainers in Jubilife City, less kids are coming all the way down here to start their journey."

"It means I can spend more time on my research but also means I have less pokemon getting sent back here," Rowan explains.

"Professor Oak does the same thing," Ash nods. "He holds extra Pokémon for trainers that left from his lab."

"Yes but since Sinnoh is a very rural region, trainers send their Pokémon home to their families instead because they have ranches or lots of yard for the Pokémon," He explains. "So I have to leave frequently to study Pokémon nowadays."

Dawn and Ash look at the Professor with sad expressions before locking eyes with one another. "What do you study professor?" Ash questions.

"Evolution," The Professor answers, happy that a young learner is interested in his field of work. "The mystery no one has been able to solve."

"That would be hard to research without owning lots of Pokémon yourself," Dawn thinks out loud. "But you send Pokédexs out with every new trainer, so shouldn't there be information on every Pokémon out there?"
