This.Was.It. Your final year at Hogwarts. You sat at the Gryffindor table in the great hall, your head in your hands and your (h/l) , (h/c) hair covering most of your face. No matter how terrible you had been feeling lately, you still made an effort to look presentable in your appearance. You had a light face of makeup, your hair was curled to perfection. You felt the only thing you could control in your life was your appearance... apart from the occasional pesky spot or blemish.
Today being the first day of term, everyone was chatting and laughing, the sounds echoing off of the walls. You just sat in silence, your own mind drowning out the obnoxious chatter coming from your fellow Gryffindor's. You didn't want to talk to anyone, everyone left you alone anyway. Even after the news that most likely everyone had heard about during the summer, no one spoke to you. You could feel the occasional stare that other students were giving you. Sometimes you would even hear the odd whisper... "Did you hear..." "I can't believe it..." "I knew there was something strange about that family..." , fully well knowing those remarks were about you, or more importantly...your parents. You awfully missed them, but you tried not to think about it during the day. It was usually during the evenings when your mind would be filled with constant flashbacks, memories and 'what if's' about your parents, Corraline and Sidney White.
The great hall quietens down as the first years are lead inside the great hall by Professor McGonagall, the fresh witches and wizard's eyes dart around the great hall, some point up to the enchanted ceiling, gasping in amazement. You watch as one blonde haired boy cowers in the back, thinking he was going to be set alight by one of the floating candles. You chuckled slightly, realising that your mood was getting a little more cheerful.
You watch as each first year is sorted into their houses. Every now and then a new member of Gryffindor would sit down at your table as your house cheered and clapped for them. You still don't feel like celebrating even though you felt a little less down in the dumps. Your tired eyes flick around to the top of the great hall, to the high table, there sat; Professor Flitwick, Professor Sprout, Madame Hooch, Hagrid and many others. Your (e/c) eyes fixated on Professor Snape who was also looking back at you.
(y/n) {Weird...}
You shift your eyes onto Professor Dumbledore who is finishing up his speech. Not long after, the tables are filled with different types of mouth-watering food. The feast begins and you watch as everyone tucks in, you don't feel like eating but you put a few potatoes and salad onto your plate, you push about the food with your silver fork not even taking a bite.
(y/n) {All I want to do is just start my classes, I don't want to eat I don't want to talk. I just need something to take my mind off of everything.}
Your mind became troubled again. You left the great hall, heading to the Gryffindor dormitories. As you make your way there you are caught up by a looming shadow, you turn around to see Professor Snape towering over your small (in comparison) frame.
"Professor Snape." You say, slightly sharply.
(y/n) {I am not putting up with any of his bullshit today... not today.}
"Leaving so soon Miss...White?" He asks in his usual tone, leaving an unnecessary gap in between your title and name.
You sigh. "I wasn't hungry." You reply coolly. This was totally out of character for you. You were always a polite student who watched her tone, especially when it came to talking with Professor Snape.
"And where do you think you're going?" He says, raising an eyebrow.
"To my dormi-"
You get cut off by some sort of commotion down the hall, Professor Snape is now storming towards it to probably take away a few house points. You take this opportunity to carry on making your way to your dormitory.

As you enter you are greeted by the homely aroma of your bedroom, scents of fresh bedding fills the air. You turn on your bedside lamp and let your Owl, Felix out of his cage and out of the window to stretch his wings. You watch as he soars through the dark sky and circles around the turrets of the castle.
You climb off of the dusty window ledge and unpack your things, setting your robes on hangers and folding your clothes into neat piles, and placing your boots and shoes under your bed. You set a framed photograph of your parents on your bedside table, you look at it for a bit, feeling a little lonely. You change out of your robes and into your comfy pyjamas and sit crossed legged on your bed with your school books out in front of you ready to do some studying for tomorrow. You had Herbology first, charms, then potions, then a free period before your day was finished. You usually studied in your free period but you decided to study this evening, then nap in your free period tomorrow.
(y/n) {Who needs sleep anyway?}
You knew that you'd probably regret this decision tomorrow but you'd rather be keeping busy than to be alone with your thoughts. The hours ticked by, your other roommates coming back into the common room and up into their dormitories. After they had all got into their beds you turned off your bedside lamp with a flick. Darkness.
"Lumos" you delicately whisper, the end of your wand glowing a pale blue colour, producing enough light so that you could see. You stick your head under your soft duvet and blanket to avoid dazzling your fellow Gryffindor's, keeping yourself to yourself as you studied throughout the evening and into the morning.
