A Family At Last

The proposal

(Jerome's POV)

I drive home with Ian in the passengers seat, Ty, Skyler and Rain in the back. Ty is finally sleeping and Skyler and Rain are talking about baby stuff and other things. It is good to see Rain happy and laughing, the hospital really drained her.

I'm going to propose to her today, and tell her some other good news. I smile to myself the whole ride home. I was getting ready while she was in the hospital. I was so excited for her to be my wife.

We get home and I suggest that we take a walk on the beach. "Sure, it sounds relaxing." Rain smiles at me. We all walk along the water until we come to a path of seashells. I pretend to look confused and Rain follows to path with her eyes. "Why don't we follow it?" I suggest.

She nods and we start walking slowly along the seashell path. "You stay here, I'll go see what's up there. I run up the hill and wait a few seconds, "Okay, you can come up here." I get on my knee and wait for her and the others to come up here.

(Rain's POV)

"Okay you can come up here." I hear Jerome yell. I look at Skyler and Ian, they shrug. We follow the seashells until I see a message in the sand. Written in the sand are the words 'Marry me?' with flower petals all around. I stare wide eyed as Jerome comes into view, he's on his knee. I put my hand over my mouth, happy tears running over my hand.

I walk up to him slowly and he takes a box out of his pants. He takes my hand, the one that isn't covering my mouth and he looks me in the eyes. "Rain, you are without a doubt, the best thing that has ever happened to me. A life without you would not be complete."

He takes a shaky breath, getting emotional, before continuing, "I will always be there for you. I will catch you when you stumble. Protect you when you're scared and hold you when you're feeling down. I'll love you forever and always, Will you marry me?"

He opens the box which has a ring engraved with Forever and Always. "No." His face falls, "What?" I smile and laugh, "I'm kidding, of course I'll marry you. I love you, forever and always." He smiles and put the ring on my finger. "I love you too."

He kisses me and I kiss back. When we stop he looks at me, "You gave me a mini heart attack when you said no." I laugh, "I know, I could see it in your face." We all laugh and Skyler and Ian are holding hands.

Jerome hands me a paper, it's rolled up. I frown, "What's this?" He nudges me, "Open it and tell me what you think. Don't tell them what it is just yet." I nod and slowly open it.
