My eyes snap open.

I’m in bed.

I’m in Cody’s room.

He’s lying to my left side with the back of his left hand on my right cheek.

“Babe! Are you okay? You were making a lot of noise in your sleep.” Cody notices I’m awake and sits up.

I join him.

“I-..I.. What day is it?” I ask as if I’ve had short term memory loss.

“Oh yeah, by the way… Happy birthday.” He winks as he places and arm around me.

I thought I already had my birthday.

The big party.

The promise ring.

I lift up my right hand and there’s no ring.

Cody has a mixture of facial expressions when I do.

Does me having no ring mean my birthday and everything after it never happened?

There was no Kylie trying to steal Cody from me?

Ariel is still alive?

Jake, Josh and Cam aren’t here?

My mom isn’t coming after me or Cody and his family?

Now that’s just unrealistic.

The logic here is: No promise ring equals I didn’t go insane, lose people I love, or nearly die, twice.

The hugest smile plants itself on my face.

I turned my head and jumped into Cody, wrapping my arms around his neck as I kissed him. He kissed me back and placed his other arm around me, hugging me tightly.

He pulls his lips back but keeps his face on mine.

“What’s gotten into you?” He smiles.

“What? You don’t like it when I attack you with love in the morning?” I smile back.

“I didn’t say that.” He says as he pushes his lips back to mine.

He flips me over so my back is on his lap and I continue resting my arms around his neck. I smile through every kiss he gives me, because it feels like I’ve gone an eternity without ones like these.

He feels me exhale and brings his head back.

I open my eyes to reveal his gorgeous face, smiling down at me.
