Y1 Orientation Concert

Omg. I'm so pissed.

So today was the Y1 orientation concert and I crashed it (like I did last year). My friend requested that I took a video of 110 performing (again, like last year) but I was there to take a video of the student leaders (also known as 113) performing for the Y1s. Never mind.

I agreed to help my friend take a video of 110 performing. It was her Y1 class so she wanted to see them perform because she couldn't make it for the concert. The video got cut at 5 minutes 56 seconds because my phone had no storage space. Never mind.

I had to take a video of the student leaders performing BUT my phone no space! AND MacBook cameras are only good for selfies. So I tried to airdrop the video from my phone to my MacBook but it failed. I tried to upload the video to Google Drive from my phone which also failed, at the same time burning my data and now my mum and I have only 200MB of data left combined.

Then I was damn stressed like omfg and all the Y1s performances were trash so, obviously, I had to take "113" performing. Then my phone was sinking in and out of consciousness despite being connected to a power bank?!

I tried to send it to WhatsApp but my phone keeps dying and reviving SMH I was damn stressed omg cuz I was the only spammer (we're a group of friends in a spam chat in my school) there to take video and upload to the event folder. And obviously, you don't get what I mean. Doesn't matter. Just know I was damn stressed for that half an hour.

Now let me rant about the concert. Thank God it was free. It. Was. Trash. UTTER TRASH!!!

Basically, their singing was HORRIBLE. There was only 1 girl who's from 101 who can sing. The others were all either out of tune or have extremely bad falsetto. When the emcees said their singing was good I was like OH HELL NO.

And 103 composed their own song for the concert BUT they didn't even remember the lyrics. How can this even happen?? They composed it!! And they weren't even in sync but the emcees were like, "And you guys were so in sync" and I'm like what??? I get that they're being nice but WHAT

Most of the performances were ear cancer and I don't understand why all of them have singing when they all CANNOT SING. There was Count On Me by Bruno Mars and A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman TWICE I was like can they think of something new??

112 performed This Is Me by Keala Settle which was also from The Greatest Snowman and they split into 2 groups for that. BUT they can't SING.

[Edit (20/11/2022): Yes, I know, it's The Greatest Showman... I genuinely thought it was Snowman back then... And I thought it was too funny to just be edited away.]

Oh, before I forget, the Y1s can't cheer the school cheers. They remember the signs, but they don't know the lines. At the start, they were like "RGS are you ready?" But THAT IS ONLY FOR THE COMBINED HOUSE CHEER. In the normal school cheers, you just start cheering! You don't go "RGS are you ready?" I saw people facepalming, really.

Then 106 was like doing the R-A-F-F-L-E-S cheer and they missed out a line of 2 (the underlined parts were missing, the bracketed parts are the audience):

Basically, they cut away 2 lines of the cheer and everything sounded wrong. And everyone facepalmed LOL

The best performance from 101 to 112 was the one by 108. There was one ballerina who was REALLY GOOD!! I bet she's going to join R factor this year (my school's equivalent of X factor). Too bad the singers in the back ground were out of rhythm and, again, THEY CAN'T SING. The song, A Million Dreams, which is such a nice song sounded like cancer.

In a nutshell, this year's Y1 orientation concert was a ton of trash.
