Instagram + Open House

So on 20 May, I finally got Instagram which is the same as my Wattpad username. I was so thrilled because almost everybody in my school has the app and I finally have it too! It was really frustrating without it because you always see "follow @ whatever project on Instagram", even for school stuff like Open House.

What is an Open House? It is a day where the school is open to the public to just walk in and see the environment. Primary 6 students who are taking PSLE later in the year would come to the school in order to choose which secondary school they want to go to after graduating.

Open House is held every year on a Saturday. Some schools have it in May while others have it in November. For mine, it's in May and, this year, it's specifically 25 May which is tomorrow!

Today, we were dismissed at 10.50 am (school starts at 7.30 and lessons start at 7.50) to clean our classrooms and set up the CCA booth. In case you are confused, CCA stands for co-curricular activity and, in my school, it is compulsory to have one CCA and only one CCA. I'm in basketball.

At 11.20 am, we were dismissed from class to help set up CCA booths and school programme booths. I'm in the Malay Special Programme (MSP. it's not a third language. It's a special programme teaching a third language. I mean it is classified under 'Special Programmes' in MOE so) even though I really suck at the language.

I'm also in the Regional Studies Programme (RSP) where we learn about the culture of the regions around Singapore, in general, South-East Asia. In Year 1, we learn about the culture (Malay?) in Singapore. In Year 2, we learn about the culture in Malaysia which is why we went to Johor Bahru (via Tuas) > Malacca > Kuala Lumpur > Johor Bahru (via Causeway) in November 2018 for 7D6N. I already had Wattpad then but wasn't particularly attached to it so I didn't journal it up.

In Year 3, which is this year, we're learning about Indianisation. In November this year, we're still going to Malaysia but a different part of the country. It still hasn't been confirmed yet. I would probably journal it here if I'm still active on Wattpad which I probably would still be.

In Year 4 (next year), I'll be going to Indonesia in June 2020. Well, that is if I can keep my RSP scholarship in the first place. I'll have to pass MSP to keep my scholarship. I got a 1.6 (it's a fail. I got 48%) for MSP last year but I was lucky that the teacher IC gave me a chance. Only RSP scholars get to go on the trip unless you're lucky that there are a few spots left :(

Anyway, tomorrow is RGS Open House and I'm really excited. I can't wait to watch the cheerleaders of the five different houses— Tarbet (Red), Buckle (Green, my house), Richardson (Blue), Waddle (Yellow) and Hadley (Purple)— cheer and dance. I also can't wait to see our little Year Ones dancing their batch mass dance.

I have two duties (MSP booth and CCA booth) on that day. I'll be tending to the MSP booth from 9.30 am to 11.30 am even though I can't speak Bahasa Melayu. The only good sentence I can form is "Saya tidak faham Bahasa Melayu" which literally translates to "I don't understand Malay". The language, I mean. I'll then be moving down from the Hall to the Canteen to tend to the CCA booth along with the other basketballers in the 3rd shift from 11.30 am to 1.30 pm.

Wait, that would mean I'll be missing some performances.

It's okay, I'll just skip my duties like I usually do (actually, I don't do that). No, I shouldn't do that. I will be such a disgrace to my school!

Welp, I'll do something about it.

By the way, follow @calistacyq on Instagram, thanks!! <3
