Hi~ya! I got this prompt from a friend who wanted something from Rantaro's perspective, it's hard to write because he died so early on. So in short, this isn't my original idea. Enjoy!

Rantaro watched Shuichi and Kaede getting closer and closer as the days went by in the Academy for Gifted Juveniles. Even though no one had yet been killed, you could cut the tense atmosphere with a knife.

Rantaro was jealous of how close Kaede and Shuichi were becoming, he wanted Kaede to be close to him instead of with Shuichi. Of course, he would never voice or show these thoughts. The only thing that mattered was getting out of here with everyone, not some petty love triangle. He could make his move after they escaped the school.

When Rantaro had painted Kaede's nails because Tsumugi's artwork was horrible to say the least, he had felt closer to Kaede, felt like he knew her more. The main reason that he even wanted to end the Killing Game was for Kaede. Maybe if he voiced these reason for wanting to get out with Kaede, she would want to help him instead of Shuichi.

But not even Rantaro could deny that she looked happy whenever she spent time with Shuichi. Hell, even when they were in the same room! Some of the other students had begun to pass the rumor around that they were into each other. Though, he don't know how much of that was true.

Rantaro was in the dining hall, lost in thought when someone had called out his name. Rantaro turned to see Kaede waving from a table with Kaito and, surprise surprise, Shuichi. Rantaro walked over to were the group was sitting.

"We were discussing ways to stop the Killing Game, now that we have a time limit." Kaito explained.

"Oh." Rantaro's voice sounded bitter and Kaede threw him a concerned look.

"We thought maybe you'd have some ideas." Shuichi said carefully, sensing his mood instantly.

Rantaro shrugged, "Nope, you're the detective after all."

Rantaro wanted to share his thoughts and motives with Kaede, not Shuichi. Kaito was a good guy, as far as Rantaro could tell, but didn't really want the guy there.

"Maybe we should set up a trap? If we can catch the mastermind, then maybe the Killing Game will end?" Shuichi suggested.

"Who would the mastermind even be?" Rantaro shot at him.

  Shuichi looked away, slightly ashamed.

"It was a good idea, don't shoot it down." Kaede snapped, turning to Shuichi she added, "I'll help you with your plan."

"Thanks Kaede." Shuichi glanced at her from under his hat.

In a huff of annoyance, Rantaro stood up and marched to the other side of the room. Kokichi looked at him strangely as he butted into his and K1-B0's converstion. He could feel Kaede's gaze on his back, but he refused to look at them.

If Shuichi made Kaede happy, then who was he to judge. Even if his own feelings wanted them to stay apart. Soon, Rantaro would prove he was better than Shuichi and win over Kaede, then he'd tell Kaede why he wants to get out so badly.

  It was because of her.

I hope that you all enjoyed it! Bye~onara!
