If Things Went Different.. {AoT} {Rivetra}

Chapter 6: Stay Alive and Survive

As I expected, I saw the flash of titan shifting ahead in the distance. I glide faster, feeling my heart beat go fast. I reached the destination and saw the Female Titan and my squad who are trying to stop it.

At first, they managed to hit an attack on it but then it regenerated its eyes quickly and headed for Petra.

Petra's death...

I hurried into the scene and grabbed Petra who was out of focus because of her fear. Before anything got worse, I ordered all of them to leave the area. I hooked my wires to a tree, following them from behind, still carrying Petra in my arms.

I took a small glance from behind, seeing the Female Titan just standing there.

Is that it?

I turned my head back ahead and saw the field outside. We landed on the ground and I put Petra down.

I did it... They're alive...

They let out a sigh of relief.

"For a second there I thought today was our last.", Oluo started.

"Yeah. Thanks to Captain Levi, we got our ass saved.", Gunther replied jokingly.

We just stopped for a small break then hop on our horses, starting them and headed back to the walls. I felt relief for the first time. 

We were heading back when I saw Farlan and Isabel with their new group. I was also glad that they were alive in this world. I felt more... Peaceful...

Just then, Hanji caught up from behind and rode right next to me.

"Did you see that titan lately?! It's a new, different one! It must be a shifter! Who could be controlling it?! Oh, I wanna know!!!", she proclaimed.

"Well we don't care about it four eyes. All we need now is the scouts' safety and that the Female Titan won't cause trouble.", I replied.

"You're such a killjoy Levi!", she shouted as she went on further ahead from us.

We continued heading forward and the grip at the reins went free a little. I saw the walls as we go nearer. I smiled under my breath knowing that I have did my mission successfully. We reached the entrance and we continued our way to the headquarters.

I hop off the horse and tied it up with the other horses. Oluo, Gunther and Eld went on ahead inside but Petra came next to me.

"May I have a word sir?", she asked.

"Certainly.", I replied.

"Thanks for saving me back there."

"No problem. Just doing my job as a captain."

She smiled, walked close to me and hugged me gently and walked away. I just stood there, silent. 

D... Did she just... Nevermind.

I walked inside. They were right there, smiling when they should have disappeared already. I took a few moment to enjoy myself and then walked towards them and talked once again. I still couldn't believe they're here. But not for long. 

"Say Captain Levi, Petra hugged you lately didn't she?", asked Gunther jokingly.

"Oh! Is that true Petra?!", Oluo asked her.

"W.. Well.", Petra tried to reply.

"Yes so what?", I said defensively.

The whole squad looked at me with shock. I just stayed silent knowing that I shouldn't have said that. 

A thought went in my head that changed the subject of the conversation.

"Where is Eren?", I asked.

"Come to think of it, haven't seen him for a while.", Eld said.

He wasn't at the female titan incident. What does that mean?!

Before I can even start looking for him, he walked towards us. 

"Hey guys. Sorry I haven't showed up for a while. I was busy with Mikasa and Armin.", Eren started.

Well that explains it...

"Sorry I wasn't back at the mission Captain Levi.", he continued.

"That's fine. It turned out fine anyway.", I replied calmly.

I sipped at my tea.

After a few more hours, it was getting late. Petra and the others are going to sleep. I looked out the window and saw Farlan and Isabel pass by. They waved at me as I waved back. They continued walking and I'm still watching them go. 

After a while, I thought of the hug Petra gave me.

I do like her. Should I confess?

I thought and thought until I've decided...
