If Things Went Different.. {AoT} {Rivetra}

Chapter 12: Humanity...

Once the Armored reached the walls, Bertholdt bit his hand and turned into the Colossal. It quickly broke the walls down and titans went inside the walls once again.

The horses went faster and we managed to get near the titans. Some of us went to the Armored, Colossal and some back inside the walls. I went with those going back inside. I looked for the headquarters. I saw Levar and Petra evacuating. I ran fast towards them.

"Papa!", shouted Levar.

"Levi what happened?!", Petra exclaimed as I stop in front of them.

"It seems like Reiner and Bertholdt has planned this all along.", I replied.

"Papa are we in danger?", muttered Levar.

I looked at him sadly. "Levar... Papa will take care of this okay?"

He looked at me and smiled slightly. I heard the titans coming near so I gently pushed both of them away. "Go."

They ran towards the other wall and I headed back to the hole. They still haven't killed the Colossal nor the Armored and titans have already spread. 

"Oluo, Gunther, Eld, Eren! Take care of the surrounding titans first!", I exclaimed.

I hooked my wires back. There were titans running towards the evacuating citizens to I hurried there. The titans were unlike the ordinary once we've fought. They were now stronger and quicker. On our way there, roaming titans already killed the backup scouts. i can hear their screams from a mile.

I focused my eyes on the way ahead and cut off a titan's nape off. Before we can go further, a signal flare appeared from our east. We needed to head there. We turned our direction towards the signal. There was a swarm of titans there, surrounding a poor scout who ran out of gas. We quickly went in the scene.

I didn't notice that Eld and Gunther were caught by titans right behind me and were crying for help. I quickly turned again, hoping I can save them.

But I was too late...

The titans ate their body parts off right in front of me. I turned around if the scout has been saved. He was...

I quickly turned back at the two titans and slashed their body deeply, carrying the anger and sadness inside me. I tried my best not to show any sign of emotion in my face. Oluo and Eren came behind me.

"Sir? Did the---", they said but their sentence was cut by mine.

"Yes... They did...", I replied.

They looked sad. I pity them. My grip on the blades went tighter.

I couldn't save them...

I looked at their remaining parts on the ground right in front of us.

I whispered, "I'm sorry."

We continued to go back to the other wall where the citizens are evacuating to. Some citizens didn't make it and became titan food. I checked on my wife and son and they're still alive. I let out a sigh of relief. I stood in front of the titans.

"Hey freaks! Over here!", I shouted to catch their attentions. I led them to the other direction from the wall entrance. What I didn't know is that one titan stayed behind and grabbed Petra. I was too far from her. I tried going back...

"Petra don't let it eat you!", I shouted while gliding towards her with Oluo and Eren right behind me. Just as I hooked to the titan's nape, it bit off Petra's lower body.

"Petra!!!!", I shouted at the top of my lungs. I slashed the titan's nape off and looked for Levar hurriedly. I saw him and carried him at my arms, making my way inside the other wall. I can see and sense his terror.

I reached the area and let him down.

"Papa?", he began weakly. "Did mama..."

I stayed silent, not knowing what to tell him. "Levar. I'm sorry. I wasn't able t---.", before I can even finish my sentence, he pushed me away weakly.

"I thought you were strong papa!", he shouted at me. "Why did you let mama die?! Does she not matter to you?!". His tears streamed down his face.

I tried comforting him but he won't even come close to me. "Levar please listen to me."

"No! I'd rather die and be with mama than be with that you that can't save her!", he suddenly ran back outside the walls. Me, Oluo and Eren followed him. We already killed 3/4 of the titans just by killing those who got in his way. I looked at the Colossal and Armored and they were already being defeated thanks to Hanji.

I looked back and saw Levar running faster then tripped. I quickly grabbed him and glide away from a titan.

"Let go!", he cried.

He bit my arm and I lose grip on him and he fell.

"Eren, Oluo, take him. I'll finish off these titans...", I said.

They nodded and took Levar, going back to the other walls. I looked back at the few remaining titans...

Petra's dead.... And so is Gunther and Eld.... What's wrong with me?!
