THE GIRL

CHAPTER 8

It's been about a month of school and I've formed a friend group with Emma and a bunch of her old friends which include the people at lunch. The group consists of me, Emma, Daniel, Matt, 2 other girls, and two other guys. But mostly I've gotten close to Emma, Daniel, and Matt.

Halloweens coming up and I still don't know what I'm going to be. I'm definitely not the type of person to wear a scary costume.

One night while doing my homework I get a text from Daniel.

Text conversation between Callie and Daniel.

Daniel: Hey! Whatcha doing?

Callie: Homework.

Daniel: Oh sorry to bother you.

Callie: No it's fine I need a break anyway lol.

Daniel: Lol ok. Do you know what you're going to be for Halloween yet?

Callie: Nope :(

Daniel: Hmmmm.

Daniel: Well I'm dressing up as Danny from Grease. You should go as Sandy.

Callie: Really?

Daniel: Totally.

Callie: Ok sounds good!

The next day in lunch Emma says that we all got invited to a Halloween party at Chloe's house.

"Sounds good," Matt says.

"What are we all going to be for Halloween?" Emma asks.

"Well, Callie and I are being Danny and Sandy from Grease," Daniels says.

"Awwww aren't you guys cute, doing a couples costume," Emma remarks.

I start to blush.

"Well there goes the idea for a group costume," Matt says.

"Sorry," I respond.

"Well, we should at least all arrive together," Daniel says.

"My mom can take us all there, and maybe we can leave at 10 and watch a scary movie at my house," Emma offers.

"Ok sounds good," Daniel and Matt said.

"What about you?" Emma asks.

"Um I don't know. I'm not really a fan of scary movies," I say a little embarrassed.

"Come on Callie, don't be a scaredy cat," Emma responds.

"Yea you'll be fine Callie," Daniel says.

"Fineeee, but if I get scary nightmares that night it's on you."

I would say Daniel and I have gotten to become pretty close friends, maybe even as close as Emma. I definitely like him but I'm still not 100% sure he like me back. He wanted to do a couples costume and we text every day, even sometimes facetime so he can help me with homework I don't understand.

The night before Halloween dad, Connor, and I are eating dinner that he made.

"So," my dad announces, "Do you kiddos have any plans for Halloween?"

"Yea, can I go to Andrew's house. He's having a party," Connor says

"And can I go to Chloe's house, and then after we are going to Emma's house to watch a movie."

"I don't know guys. I don't like the idea of you guys being at parties, and not being together," my dad says.

"Dad we are not always going to be together. Connor and I have separate friend groups. Its not gonna works out," I say.

"I know Callie, It's just that I'm not used that it yet."

"I'm going to be fine dad. I will be hanging out with Emma, Daniel, and Matt most of the time. You said you liked them all," I say.

"I do. I do. Just no drinking, got it? You're too young for drinking."

"I got it."

"You too Connor," my dad says to him.

"Yea I know dad," Connor says.

"How's the driving situation working?"

"Emma's mom can drive me both ways," I say.

"And Andrew's mom can drive me both ways as well," Connor says after.

"Ok, just keep in touch every once in a while, ok?" My dad asks.

"Yep!" We both say.
